Righto Earther's, think i'll run this same as last year. Have this thread as a "planning" trip, then start a new thread closer to leave date with finalized details etc.

So I have a few ideas up my sleeve, but happy to work with the group to try and cater for everyone. But at this stage my plan is meet at either Jindabyne or Bright on the Saturday (5th November) and then start trip bush on Sunday.
Usually we camp somewhere different every night, and will attempt to roll in Sheep Yard Flat on the Thursday, and camp there until home time. (Sunday or Monday for me).

Jindabyne we've done last few years, and is a viable option to get off the black stuff quickly from Sydney. This allows us to travel East side of HC.
Other thought is come in through Bright. This gets us into the West side more so, and also offers loads of options.

I'm hoping to get Butcher Country in again, as only four of us did this last year and it was tops.

If you guys want to flick through the last three years worth of reports, and maybe suggest some things you would like to see or do, i'm sure we can tailor the trip to suit the numbers and the majority.

Please realize this trip will be tough. Your 4wd will need to be in excellent condition with good tires and I would strongly recommend a snorkel. There are plenty of opportunities for supplies during week.

Here is the actual Vic Gathering Thread

and the last three years worth of reports!

2013

Lets see if we can find a good route as a group!

I'm in. I am going to meet you either at Tom Groggin if you go through that way or along the Hume down here if you go Bright way.

Okay, so maybe we do jindy meet, it's my old haunting grounds so always happy to head there.
Head to Tom Groggin, cross the Murray, check out MtPinibar and Mt Anderson.
Then head to Omeo for supplies.

From there could maybe retrace our steps to blue rag, basalt south down into Talbotville. Follow crooked river to the bridge, this opens up the possibility of Billy goat's again. It is a good drive!

From there head over towards butcher country, and what I call hut country. Would love to spend a night mid week lovicks hut.
Then work our way from there over to sheepyard flats.

This is just a rough plan. But I'm always keen to modify the plan.

Have you considered from talbotville into wonnangatta, up zeka spur to howitt rd / hut, the start of calidonia is just south of howitt hut.
Have been down zeka spur bur never up it, would be a decent challenge in some sections.

Just a thought.
