hello all,

new to this but wondering if there are any good newcastle tracks that are good for begginers and my family. will usually be a single vehicle ( 80 series landcruiser straight diesel). was thinking about stockton beach but unsure of the condition of the lavis lane entry. also is blacksmiths beach or any other beaches 4x4 accessable.

your suggestions are greatly appreciated..

stockton is great fun,,go up there alot,,soft sand so be sure to lower your tyre pressure and keep eye on the tide if driving on the beach part...watagans is also a good trip too up that way,,plenty of tracks of all levels,,good entry point...

I presume you mean the one @ Belmont south?
best access point is off of Beach Rd
you can't get lost as it's as simple as
turn off Paciffic Highway into beach rd drive to the end
take the track to the right directly onto the sand(straight ahead is a private rd)
air down in the clearing & have fun there's plenty of tracks in the dunes heading south
just make sure you take some M8's in their own 4bs in case you get stuck

There are no signs saying you cannot drive there so all should be good

Dora Creek off of Hawkmount Rd there are quite a number of powerline tracks ranging from 2wd to highly modded trucks only

Also Morisset Park/Wyee Point, Morisset/Wyee has some good tracks to play around on as well

Powerline tracks off of Bushels Ridge Rd also has some good tracks of various dificulty fun in the dry but even more fun in the wet these tracks will take you all the way downto Warnervale

There are 9 or 10 Clubs in the Hunter area have a look at 4wdnow.com and look at Hunter Clubs, they normally have a description, most have driver training.

Look at a couple of Clubs and for one that suits you.

Welcome and good luck....

Just a thought, Sunday 25th October is Stockton Cleanup day, Starts at 9am and finishes at 1 with a free BBQ. No permit required for the day and you will get to see a number of 4WD Clubs and you can tag along.

Hi Chris and welcome. There are tracks behind Morrisset and Stockton. You said you are a beginner if so highly recommend joining a family 4x4 club but always so with experienced 4x4 owners.
