One of the guys I was out with this weekend was on a trip a few weeks ago out at Dargo with a new Defender , he said he was amazed at how easily it did all the tracks on standard size rubber, his wife went for a ride in it and now wants one due to the refinement , comfort and how easily it climbed the tracks.
His car is a mint Patrol with h full cage, LS1 twin locked running 37’s , the Defender went everywhere he did with ease

Never-ending story. LOL.

A software bug apparently causes this. Luckily he was at home and could get a tow. Lots of similar cases.

"Its a good thing that Land Rover has that Towing service" 100 Miles from new to broken down. .

Hot and cold things. My mate's one which leaked when new is now currently happily dragging a big offroad van around the country. They love it. Currently somewhere around El Questro.

Its a lottery I guess. Surely there is more than one Land Rover that never breaks down.

I know a few in the States that love their new Landrovers and say they are great offroad, one has put nearly 100k miles on his trouble free but it would always sit in the back of your mind

Not a single owner on AULRO with major issues and all are more than happy with their choice with all reporting it’s an amazingly good car in every aspect
From what I have seen from owners the new Defender is a lot better in the way of reliability and issues than the Grenadier which not surprisingly has more electrical issues and faults than any LR ever built , which is disappointing given the release was delayed due to software updates and it’s supposed to be a bare donee no nonsense 4wd

I haven't read of lots of electrical issues, or any real issues yet.

What are those issues Matt?
Are you on the Grenadier forum?
Warning lights galore, seat belt warnings when nobody in the seat, power steering warnings, air conditioning not working, not being able to get them out not low range which then stops being able to access lockers , transmission faults and the lists go on
Apparently there is a software update which is scheduled to be available in a few months that dealers are saying will fix the problems
At least LR offer an immediate update not yeah we know and should have a fix in 2 months
More have issues than don’t so far but on the up side not one vehicle has reportedly broken down and left the owner stranded although not reassuring when the dealer sends you on your way with faults saying there is nothing wrong just drive it. How will that fly when the transmission dies and the dealer says well you ignored the warning lights…
A few people have had all the lights and warning alarms screaming at them while driving down the road and unable to turn them off, not a pleasant drive in a new toy that’s for sure
They are off my list for now at least until the second generation comes out so the only 1 reliable LR ever built ( others opinion not mine) will stay mine for the foreseeable future

Wow they sound like they have really got into the LR spirit.;) It amazes me that these basic issues are not ironed out well before the public gets hold of them, LR was the same with the Defender when it first hit the floor. I understand issues can develop over time after real world use but these silly things like you mentioned shouldn’t be happening

Like you I wouldn’t be jumping in on the first generation of a vehicle like this, hopefully they sort themselves out

WOW

That is surprising.

Just took a look at the Forum. It looks like the British car maker DNA runs deeper than it should. Lots of electrical gremlins.

Hopefully it looks software related and early bugs.

Aaand I spoke too soon about the mates with the rover. Pretty good warranty care though. I’ve been following a guy in the forester page. His spun a bearing and all he got was the run around for ages. Finally got his car with a new engine back 10 weeks later.
