Sounds very intersting, is it just another addative though? I spose time will tell. The price of diesal is scary enough as it is at the moment....

It's probably the same Diesel they have had overseas for 10 years and payed half the price for! Why are people so sceptical of oil companies?? mmmm I wonder!

I reckon it's a way of moving good old diesel on and bringing in a product at an even greater cost and then justifying the cost with, "they have to do more work with it now." What a crock, instead of waisting money of a fuel that has worked for decades on heavy machinery, you would think they would just add it to the excise to reduce the cost to the consumer, But No, that would be benifiting us, NOT THEM.

I wish our vegie oil prices were the same as the UK (75p/gallon), we'd all be running our rigs on that.

ME....Not at all..... I reckon it probably will work just like they say it does. But I also think it;s a new avenue to tell us how bad our current diesel is for the enviroment and they'll probably do the same with diesel as they have with Super (Leaded)

Who me a sceptic? Naw!

Gee you blokes don't appear to have much faith in our user friendly oil companies. I really can't understand why you're so skeptical . . . OH YEAH! You can add to that list a tax greedy NSW state government, and an inept federal government. As overseas automotive manufacturers begin to bombard our market with new concept diesel engines that offer increased protection, better mileage, and green clean emissions, these aforementioned greedy bludgers are rubbing their hands together with selfish glee as yet another way to rip off the motorist becomes apparent. And do you know what . . . there's absolutely nothing we can do about it. If everyone ditched their cars and started using public transport and walking, they'd put up fares and find a way of taxing shoe leather. Naw, I'm not skeptical!!!:mad::mad:

I know that Volkswagen delayed releasing the V10 twin turbo diesel Toureg because of the poorer quality of diesel in Australia, compared to Europe. They de-rated the Toureg when they finally released them to compensate for it. So there might be something in it!

Don't get me wrong I think it's great that they are looking at a better product, I just believe we, the consumer< shouldn't be paying so much more for a much less refined product than petrol and be paying more than we should be. It's a load of crap that we take a ride and we're taken for a ride by oil companies, state governement oh and Federal government. What ever happend to diesel being almost half the price of petrol. I'll tell you, Higher price for higher demand, that's all there is to it,

Hi Guys
Not sure if anyone actually had a look at this forum when it was on, but from what i got out of it they are expecting it to cost around 1c per litre more than normal diesel. The main benifits from the 'Ultimate Diesel' being the guaranteed higher cetane rating (Min 50 I believe), and other additives to reduce the foaming when filling and assist in keeping/cleaning the injectors.

Ultimate is now available on the Gold Coast and I have had my first fill. No noticable difference as yet but have not used a tank yet. Shall keep you all informed.

C'mon guys and gals. A new diesel means our rigs will run much better, right - the trade off is we pay more for it right? We don't want to see any shareholders/stakeholders in the oil companies be short changed on dividends and profits they are rightly entitled to do we? Of course not. They still need to be able to fund the huge hotels, resorts, phenominally scaled island developments and playgrounds for the rich and famous right...stop being so disgruntled, I don't think I could live without a pure silver Audi and a house that looks like a Las Vegas casinos. Look at how many new cars are becomming diesel as well, I'm sure they need a better fuel than we are used to running our rigs on. Geeez!
