I agree, you think both of them would have come with a power and torque increase.

I think they excluded the turbo petrol because, from memory, it only has a 2.5T tow rating and they wouldn't want to go backwards. Correct me if I'm wrong.
i think the petrol prado is in effect the Lexus GX4x4 (which you can't get in diesel) i presume they didn't want the hassle of changing the badges over and having 4 models rather than 2

Just seen this video on YouTube. Hardly a robot to be seen on the 70 series production line.
That's the renowned ARACO plant. Toyota makes Landcruisers and high end lexus there. There is a video of 70's and 200's going down the same production line alternating.

It's a shame they didn't do similar with the 200, continue with the V8 whilst offering the new 6, as I am now faced with the possibility of replacing the 200 with a 70 series Single or Dual Cab V8 to tow the Skid Steer, although I am waiting for the opportunity to try and tow the Skid Steer with my sons V6 Ranger to see how it gets on - it is a very full 3500Kg load - 2.8T Skid Steer + Trailer.

In theory the 300 should tow heaps better than the 200, more KW, more torque , better handling and better brakes

I think the gearbox might suit towing better as well. I spoke to one fellow with a van and a 300 and said it is better than the 200 but don’t know if there is consensus on that?

Call me old fashioned but more power with less cylinders just doesn't equate in my world

Yep, smaller engines can't get the torque down low, regardless of how many turbos they have. Or they just go Bang without notice. Most are ok if not constantly loaded. Most are egg beaters, some are hand grenades.

Lots of VDJ's getting up to 4-500,000kms now.

The bride’s hairdresser was telling her yesterday that her partner has had a 79 on order for 18 months and has been advised he is getting the update model and no price increase

Yep, although I hate listening to his droll, John Cadoghan presented some interesting views on those that choose to Chip or Remap their vehicles to get an extra gajillion ponies out of them, that's why I leave mine stock as a rock to avoid stressing the shyte out of them. I know from experience what happens when shit goes South out in Desert country and popping an engine due to stressing the engine beyond the limits imposed by the manufacturers engineering team is not good in my book.

Yep, mostly everyone with "dusting" issues with the VDJ engine where a turbo blows or unexplained problems has a chip or ECU upgrade. It's easier to convince yourself that you didn't cause the problem by stretching the engine past its design limits, you can attempt to go to the manufacturer to cough up at least part of the $30k damage you have done. it has happened sooo many times.

I'm not sure why people think 200KW and 650NM is not enough, and will perform better with an upgrade from some guy in a rented workshop on the outskirts of a city for a grand. Its a folly.

If you need more power than the manufacturer designed, then you bought the wrong car in the first place. IMHO.

Less is more with mods.
