New 70 Series released

Well, she arrived today and is looking pretty good - all coloured coordinated and showing a bit of her frilly black under-ware.

The low ratio gearbox takes a bit of getting use to, also the short shift between gears. Though, a few more hours in her, learning all those idiosyncrasies, should provide both of us much satisfaction and many years of happy endings. ;)

Congratulations mate, enjoy. What brand tray is that? haven’t seen one before.

They drive very differently to other vehicles and now that I also drive a truck the 70 DNA makes even more sense as it feals much more truck like than car like the Hilux etc category does.
The gearbox is slow, you can’t rush the changes like you do in a car, it does change your whole driving style

@LongRoad2Go , let us know what suspension, clutch, seat, console, arm rest, diff, sound deadening, engine, exhaust, brake and stereo upgrades you go with
Nice tray upgrade to kick it off
Love that colour on the 70 series , Tallaban beige, always wanted a beige car now for the gun turret mod

Sorry board senseless at the airport and sometimes can’t help being a smartass

Thanks fella's. Yep, it's a Mits Tray - would highly recommend, the build and finish quality is excellent (welds, bolts, hinges with spring cotter pins and all the other small details). The staff were great too.

DiscoMatt: no apologies needed, what would this Forum be if we couldn't take the piss - downright un-Australian!

I like no frills and try to adhere to the KISS principle, so very few big-ticket additions are likely, just ones to protect it and keep as light as possible: extended breathers, additional fuel filter, plastic fantastic bull bar (Smart Bar). Maybe a few minor creature comforts - extra storage space would be nice for phone, coins, etc, so some sort of console perhaps. Am deciding on a short winch off canopy for a fridge - no heavy metal draws or shelves though. Zero electrical fitout - waiting for those portable power stations to evolve a bit = plug and play versatility.

Hope to see yo'all out there!

P.s. it does come with two cupholders - but this car is an eat/drink free zone anyway. ;)

Highly recommend getting a Department of interior centre console as apart from more storage the height is much more comfortable as an arm rest.
If you are looking at the centre consoles there used to be quite a wait to get them if you bought off them direct ( about 6 weeks) but some of their resellers carry them in stock
The One Stone door rests are great too

Yes, the DOI consoles - both roof and floor mounted - do look tidy. Besides, also need somewhere neat to install the UHF. (The aerial will be a hinge mount probably on the headboard - prefer no roof racks or bars.)
Yeah, I've see quite a few Forum and YouTube remarks about the armrest issue with 79's. It didn't seem a problem yesterday, but could easily see a bruised elbow after extended Highway or corrugated dirt trips - just need to get them without the cup holders i.e. like to stop, take a rest, do a walk around, look at maps, and have a drink anyway.
