Partners, kids etc welcome. As a lot of the weekend will be in National Parks, dogs are not allowed.

I will probably head up on the Friday evening, it is still daylight savings, will still be light and it will save a drive the next morning if anyone want's to join me. (and another night in the bush to unwind from work with a campfire and a few quite beers won't go astray anyway).

While at O’Tooles, care will need to be taken due to the number of open shafts around the place. Many of these are not marked and some are quite deep (20 foot plus)

What you need to bring

- Enough food / water
- Shelter ( tent or swag )
- Enough petrol / diesel for the duration
- Self sufficient with recovery gear
- Any tools, spares or other equipment you need

Have a look at this thread for an idea on the sort of things that may be required. http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/information-newbies/53-equipment-take-out-your-first-trip-out.html

There are drop toilets at both camping locations but until we get there, don’t know what condition they will be in. A couple of weeks ago they were fine.

Any questions, comments or suggestions, either post here or PM me.

Looking forward to it :D:D:D

Map attached below shows route from Neerim Sth township to Camping Area.

If anyone wants a calibrated Ozi version of this map, PM me. Got the track files too if needed. Let me know

Looks like a good turnout for the weekend, hope the weather is good, can't wait. :):):)

At this stage, we will be camping very close to the Hawthorn Bridge river crossing of the Latrobe River, just not sure which campsite we will be in at the moment. Prior to the trip, I will give you mobile numbers etc and a map showing pretty much where we will be. Will also give you UHF Channel numbers and so on, or we can just meet at a pre determined spot at a given time. Will talk more via PM closer to the date.

b'n's? isnt that where people go to show off their utes dressed as kenworths?

Yep..... It's something different.... I just go there to get absoultly smashed and have a good time, and laugh at why they have 8 areials and 1 uhf  It's sorta a tradition for the missus and her brothers over the last 4 or so years.

yeah i cant understand why they do it, i work at a kenworth dealership and we get them coming into work with their utes with huge bull bars with 10 antennas that do nuthen but hold up bundy flags... thay always buy mudflaps, deflectors, stickers and uselss stuff to put on them. why do they need a full row of kenworth mudflaps front and rear i have no idea. we all have a good laugh!

would be good to have ya on the trip

I'm up for it, not going to go as hard as last time I did it though, don't want to break anything at the start of the long weekend, or anytime over the weekend for that matter. Might need winching up the first step about 1/4 way up and then maybe at the top deep bit again, but will give it a go.

I think Scott will be fine now he has his 35's, better wear my 31's out and get a set of 33's :D:D:D

is it worth dusting the peede's off for this trip or will road tyres be ok?

when you say road tyres, you mean MTZ's? theres is mud up there this time of year, but alot more rocks and loose dirt so i reckon the mtz's will be fine
