Hi there
I have heard that the Old Coach Road is now closed for 4x4? Is this true? My mate's family and mine were thinking about a weekend trip.

Cheers

Yep, Old coach road was closed earlier this year as the council didn't have the resources to keep it open. The Nanango council however indicated that if there was enough response from 4x4 associations or clubs and 4x4 enthusists they would consider reopening it. Our club and several around Brisbane have submitted letters in the hope they open the gates. If you want to confirm this just contact the Nanango council.

Im always keen to go 4WDing and dont really like going out alone, so yeah if any1s up here n wants to come out wit its fine by me:D. Most of the tracks i do are old unused forestry track, firebreaks and quarries.

i like to get lost in the forest and fine my way out again lol
best way to find new and hidden tracks.

I heard Old Coach road was closed, when you say locals go, is that because council allow you or just cause you can
I was going to go for a run there myself at some stage and found they had closed it to everyone.

The seven mile diggings area has been reopened but only to 4wd vehicles on a permit available from the Nanango visitors information center, however the old esk road (which connects the diggings from Blackbutt) remains closed.

we just got confirmation from the council diggings are open but old coach road is closed, all areas are closed to bikes. we will be up there on the first weekend in november now , the council said if we keep sending letters from clubs we may be able to get it open on a permit scheme for clubs .

Can someone provide more info on what's happening?
Is the gate at the Blackbutt end, that used to have the road closed sign on it, now padlocked. What measures have been put in place to enforce this?
I led a group through there about this time last year after numerous phone calls with the then local council. They wanted to keep it open but the lawyers were the ones trying to shut due to public liability concerns.
It is a great overnight trip and I had planned another tag-along this November for about 15 cars.
Isn't it a gazetted road?
