G'day all. I have just bought my first 4x4 Fj62 Landcrusier on LPG/Lead free. Have only got a 40 ltr petrol tank & a 110 ltr LPG unit.Have a dilema. At recent rego renewal I was told that the LPG tank will be outa date next year so will have to get a new one which is about $1000 for the one that I've got or just get rid of LPG and replace it with a big fuel tank keeping the existing one as a back up, also big $'s. Gas is cheap, is down on available power when you use it but then you can't get it everywhere. Can't decide which way to go.Would love some thoughts.
Also wanna change the seats any ideas please ?

Gas is only down on power only when it's tuned that way. You can have it either way, sort of.

I would call around to replace or retest the gas tank but that is a big get ya for everyone that has changed over to gas.

If your tank is inside the vehicle, it will probably pass a test easily (clean and rust free hopefully) and I think the test is only around $150 from memory if you take it out and give it to them. I'm have the same dilemma next year but have the 3 scuba type tanks which will probably cost me more. My Rangie goes better on Gas than on Petrol, it only gets 300-350km from 70L but I have little trouble finding LPG, even here in the NT. And at half the price of diesel, it's actually cheaper to run than the 'Cruiser.

40 litre fuel tank, tank has been cut in half this is normal for gas conversion but the GAS tank has a life of ten years then its removed and retseted and valve seals in taps replaced then they restamp it and thats it for the next ten years, but there is also a mob that dose the fuel tank so when its cut in half they put a drop type of tank in there and it will hold about 90 litres of petrol, this is what i have done to my 62 series plus then i got 100 litres of LPG usable and it all under neath the back of the cruser wich runs a EFI 5 litre V8
The cost of removing the tank and refitting it is about $100.00 if it is under the back of the cruser plus the testing of the tank all up should be about $300.00

Thanks for your input guys. have decided to give the LPG the flick & go back to petrol. Keeping the smaller 40 ltr tank & have found a complete original main tank at the wreckers. does anyone know how big these tanks are, Guy at the wreckers said 60 ltrs, one Toyota dealer says 80 ltrs & another says 90 ltrs. I know just fill it up & see how much it takes but I haven't got it yet. Thanks.

Hi Myfirst4x4 I believe that they are 90 litre standard if you have an owners manual it will tell you, the work shop manual says its 90 litre
