I prefer to run the BFGoodridge Muds. A bit noisy but a good all rounder. If driving on sand I drop the pressures down to 20psi and on the trails 25psi. Even less when I am towing my camper. Over the years I average between 70-100 thousand ks. Run on Standard nissan rims 295/75/16.

My 2 bobs worth ! I'm looking at either BFG's or Procomps . Have Coopers at moment , but after last sojorn ( SA trip ) , not all that confident of their durability . Unfortunately Mickey Thompsons come out of the same factory so am not inclined to look at them .

I run a set of Maxxis in 35x12.5x15 Buckshots, cheaper then most, but do the job nicely and have done everything from mud/sand/rock & alot of bitumen. Haven't seen much wear on them yet and have been using them as dailys since around march last year. But i did opt for the heavy duty set suited for larger 4x4s and my surf only comes in at 2.3tonne on the weigh bridge fully loaded.

I run some cooper AT and just kept getting punctures, Got rid of them after 20k. Changed to BFG AT and they seem to were and chip, i have had them on for 30k and not enough tread on them to take out in the bush with conferdence, but have only had 1 puncture in them. going to put them in the shed and use them in the Simpson or on long tours as they still have alright tread for anouther trip like that. Today i am getting a set of MTZ on, lets see how they go, need something with some tread.

I run 285/75x16 Silverstone MT117 Sports.....great tyre for the price....

they are directional and they are noisy on the bitumen but wear isnt too bad and the traction in all terrains offroad is bloody awesome for the price bracket they are in!

This may be true but are they made to the same specs? I have heard this point a few times that they come out of the same factory but I have never heard of the same faults that the coopers are having.

Hey marky.

How do you find the new KM2s. Am just about ready to replace my BFGm/s. Just not sure about the side wall tread just dosent look like they will bite as good as the originals.

Goodyear mtr, but the old pattern, it has changed a little so not sure on the new pattern! I have done 20,000 at least and only worn 2 mm max on a tyre. Not bad for MT tyre

i work in the tyre industry and to be completly honest i dont think you can beat bfg's yeah they are dearer than some other cheap brands but i have never heard anyone complain about them and after them i would go good year but i dont like the new mud pattern it is nothing like the older one its more of a a/t to me but every one is different we have one customer that uses nankang m/t and cant say a bad word about them

I forgot to mention if you let the tyres down in the appropriate terrain they do well. some out there can vouch for my indiscretions .

Hey split pin, yea they are a good tyre the lugs on the side walls work realy well, they have nice big gaps in the tread which get rid of the mud really well. I would reccomnend them to anyone. They do some good roosts to!

I agree about the right tyre pressures. I notice a lot of people when they get stuck dont even look or think about lowering tyre pressures any further than what they allready at. I think most of them would have got out of trouble if only taking another 5-10 psi out of there tyres.

My brother got stuck on Stockton Beach recently and dropped from 20lb to 14 and drove out. It works but remember to pump it back to 18-20lb's afterward or a direction change may peel a tyre off the rim
