Hi
Did you end up getting a winch fitted? I am just going through the process now and doesn’t seem many dealers know about fitting a winch to the rugged x

Not just yet, I’ve been a little preoccupied with moving and I’d need to finish deciding which winch lol

I had a brief chat with a TJM dealer who didn’t seem to think there’d be an issue.

Cool, hendo got back to me and said he’s looked into it and need a fitting kit from Toyota which is what arb told me. That’s about 1100 in two parts

Hey Jen,
I bought a Rugged X about 4 months ago, great to drive, strong in the bush, couldn't be happier. I have, however, run into trouble with the winch. ARB doesn't have anything that fit the current bar set up, neither does Ironman. When I spoke to Toyota about the "winch compatible" bar they informed me that I needed to buy a cradle from them and then add the winch to it. Nearly $4000 to do it all. Let me know how you go finding anything that works, I've been looking and talking to people for 4 months and still no luck.

I have just ordered a Rugged X from the dealer and should have it in the next two weeks, The winch kit comes in two parts and I have been charged $1150 for the Genuine hoopless winch fitting kit and $300 for the Winch cradle , the dealer is arranging the winch fitting for me i ordered the Runva XP13 but was told I would have to go with XP11 as the larger one won't fit.
No one has been able to show me any photos or diagrams of what it looks like so can wait to see it, I will post a pic for you as soon as I can

The prices seem right. I had Toyota fit their warn winch as couldn’t find anyone else to fit. Have seen one with an iron man but not sure how.

More cost effective nearly to change the bar.

Mrs Rum, how are you finding the Rugged X? I just ordered mine this week, so can't wait to get my hands on it soon. Sounds like fitting a winch will get a little expensive (Toyota tax).

Wow - that has to be the pick of the bunch of the modern Hilux lineup. Couldn’t have chosen a better colour either. Looking forward to seeing it evolve!

Hi Gribber, how did you go with the winch setup? I ordered my Rugged X 2 weeks ago and still waiting on it to be delivered; as I am getting an ARB colour matched canopy with it so a little delay there.
Did the Runva XP11 fit ok? Please post pics :)

Hi Guys, sorry for the delayed reply!

I haven’t settled on the winch yet, life got a bit crazy with moving to the farm.... the move resulted in 47,000kms put on the new girl in her first 6 months!

Which means, I’m up for a set of tyres now and due to the hilly and usually moist terrain on the farm - am considering the BFG KM3 mud tyres.... so currently trying to make a decision.

I love the ute though and it has done everything asked of her without issue - I’m looking forward to maybe planning an adventure for her. :)
