Mounting kings dual air compressor location 150 prado?

Hello,

I have an early model Dual Kings air compressor that I'd like to hardwire into my vehicle, and I'm looking for some advice on the best mounting options. It's quite a large unit, and I've managed to fit it into the second battery slot, but it comes into contact with some rubber pipes, and I'm not sure if that's ideal (pictures showing this at end of post).

Has anyone found a better spot to mount it, maybe behind the side boot panels under the cup holders? I know people have done this with smaller units, but im wondering if anyone has managed with a larger unit.

Since I'm a beginner when it comes to auto electrics, I'd like to quickly outline my plan for this installation. I intend to run a positive and negative wire (could someone recommend the appropriate gauge?) from the cranking battery to the air compressor and connect it via an Anderson plug. Is this all I need to do, or should I include a fuse or circuit breaker between the battery and the air compressor? I've seen some YouTubers mention this step, but I'm not sure if it's necessary as I would normally just connect it with the clamps direct to the battery?

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just be aware of anything behind the plastics won't have any ventilation and those units can get very hot in use

Personally I dont think mounting it under the bonnet is a great idea??

I dont know if it would be designed to be in the heat of an engine bay on a permanent basis??

I think Id be putting it in the rear side well

So the best mounting spot would be under the rear cup holder panel... even though it doesnt have much air flow?

Yes if you want to burn it out
So what are my mounting options then? I guess I'd have to wait until I have a rear draw setup and mount it behind that or something?
It's just that I've seen other people mount compressors under those cup holders

That hose is for the AC, you really don`t want to rub through that.
I have the single version of that compressor mounted on the wing of my draw system in the back.
The way I have it wired is to switch it on and it cuts out automatically once it gets to pressure 75psi.
I have a 4lt air tank mounted under the wing with the pressure switch and air locker switch/valve.
Those compressors get very hot, they need ventilation.
Put a fuse in as close to the battery as you can, Burning car make for shitty holiday.

Yrs ago I mounted a compressor in a timber storage box I made for my recovery gear etc. I made a hole in it near the compressor and fitted a 90mm 12v refrigerator fan to draw some of the heat away it worked well. I wired it so it came on with the compressor.
