Hi Tonkatuff4x4,

Here is the Morgan quarry, just south of Morgan.

Quickest way there, if you don't live in the hills, would be up the Sturt highway to Truro, turn north on a bitumen road to Eudunda ( although you arrive at the Eudunda/Morgan road about 3 km east of Eudunda ) and then across to Morgan. - 161 km from Gepps Cross.

If you are in the hills, or eastern suburbs, you could drive through to Mount Pleasant, then head off to the east towards Walker's Flat, but turn off a few km east of Sanderston and head up through Sedan to the Sturt Highway - all bitumen so far. Then across the (good) dirt roads, northwards to Mount Mary, to meet the bitumen road from Eudunda to Morgan. That's quite a nice drive through the mix of dry scrubby farming country, north of the Sturt Highway. Spot a few roos if early enough, wombats, emus, rabbits . . . Google measures 161 km for this route also, but a much nicer drive in my opinion.

Hope this helps, Millsy.

Love that Google Maps! But I've still got three more tests and half a dozen books to mark!

I'm doing a GRIT trick - having the forum on in the 'background' while I'm doing my paperwork. I wonder how many others stretch out there evening work like this!

Would be great to come out for a day trip up to Morgan with you. But I have de-registered the truck for a few weeks while I do a couple of repairs. Not to mention hiding the old girl from the 'boys in blue'! Need to fix the clutch master cylinder and the tail gate locking release button.

So enjoy your trip!

If you are looking for another fourby to tag along on a day trip, I have the truck on the road during school holidays. Drop us an email via the Forum - a PM ( Private Mail ) as they say.

Cheers, Millsy.

G'day Tonka. Morgan Quarry is relatively easy to find. Find the Caravan park up there and it's virtually right beside that. There is a road that runs between the park and the river (slightly raised). You take that until you get to an unused old footy oval and turn right there. Follow that track and head up the hill but don't go around the oval and don't turn right into the private property. Go up the hill on the centre track. I like the place for a bit of mucking round and shking down the Lux.
