Mongrel Lux - R.I.P.

A friend past away in USA recently and we sent in a donation via PayPal to a given account. This money was then handed to the family which helped them a lot. Could be something like the emergence fund that was run for the flood and fire victims earlier.

Hi all,

Below is a message that we received from Derek, Mal's brother. He passes on his thanks for the condolences and thoughts from all of Mal's friends on 4x4earth. Does anyone have a few photos of Mongrel Lux 4 wheel driving that they can post?

James

Hello Malcolm's friends and fellow 4X4 drivers.
I want to thank you all for your kind messages about my brother Malcolm, or Muzz as we called him and Mongrel Lux as you called him (wish I'd known that one earlier!). He was such a cheerful, kind and gentle bloke and we miss him greatly. But we have many happy memories of him, many involving his beloved 4X4s. He probably told you about his tiny Suzuki, he could drive that thing up vertical walls and over ground too soft to walk on. Used to say he would never have one of those great heavy Toyotas... but that was then.

Malcolm's funeral will be at Tobin Bros, 505 Princes Hwy, Noble Park at 10
am on Friday on Friday 12th August. All are welcome.
Thanks once again.
Derek

As posted elswhere, RIP Mal, a Great Aussie Bloke.

But guys like Mal always seem to run under the Radar and Pics unfortunately are few and far between. Even the Photo Shoot with 4WD eXtreme February 2010 resulted in very few pics, but Mal did make it into the Mag.

Paj, do you have the Pics? There is a good pic of Mal standing with his beloved Lux which appeared in the Mag.

Come on everyone, post some pics up. I am disappointed at how few I have taken over many trips with Mal. One of the more memorable trips was when we all helped Caz and Col get out of a bit of trouble as they almost slid of the side of Gentle Annie. Someone has to have pics of that :)

James................has this thread been passed onto Derek (and/or) the family. It would be good if it could be so that they knew of his 'life' within 4x4 Earth.

Thanks

RIP Mal, Wow, This isn't what I expected to see tonight when I was having a look on here. Was a pleasure to have known you mate. The world has lost a true gentleman and all round good bloke. Havn't seen you around much over the last little while but from everyone at the Dandy Ranges 4wd club you will be sadly missed.

Hi Dave, I sent Craig (Mal's friend that contacted me originally) a link to this thread so he could pass it on to his family. He was very appreciative and thought his family would be also. Seeing the comments from all of us here should fill them with great pride and a sense of what a great person he was.

Several have been posted already by Plastered, Tallarook trip,
If someone who knows how to do it, we have the last trip Mal ran on 3/7

Neerim, Technical / Hard Trip. The trip report was started by Jack1948 as Mal posted it on Fireline, was all transferred by some guys that knew how ;) I had no idea, these are the last pics of Mal leading us. and guess what?? he learned something that day :D:D Refer trip report by Mal ;)

There are a few pics in there, including a couple of good ones where he is leaning on the shovel he found and packed it into the back of the tractor very carefully :):) making sure it would not fall out, and it didn't, you would reckon it was made of gold ;)

The pics are in the different guys signature, Blaknav and Mutley HeeHee
If you have trouble finding them give me a call, No in signature

I've just had a bit of a dig through my video archive. Don't seemed to have a lot, only very brief glimps during the mud run video last year. Most were of him driving. I'll see what i can put together.

Just dug up some pics which Scott- Blaknav took at Neerim 3/7, the last trip Mal lead. hehehaha, giving advice on which way to come up to some experienced guys, leaning on his shovel and two shots of the tractor, one setting up the winch, only 3 WD and stuck and the other just bouncing up the ruts ;):D:D:):)

Ok i received these photos via email. I'll have a go and put together a photo slide show. It'll be short but better than nothing i guess.

We missed out on meeting you face to face and was looking forward to meeting you at Skipworth. Your contributions to 4x4 earth were always helpful and fun. Thank you for your friendship. Lest we forget. Our condolance to the family. Maureen (reallywitchywife) Peter (splitpin) and Torii.
