I suppose you could try slightly thicker oil and see if that helps, but no way should it be burning that much oil.

Hey Carbs

You can always try Mitsubishi's genuine oil as i have used this for quite some time and it seems to not burn as much in the older engines of the mitsubishi range of cars
Cheers Anthony

Is it diesel?, if so is there excessive blow-by?
Is there a trail of smoke behind you?
Is there an oil leak?

there is another very rare thing that could occur, and that is the engine block could be soaking in the oil (porous block).
have you had the vehicle very long or has it just started to do this.

Just thought of another reason, when your up in the bush do you use excessive revs whithout acually noticing it.

Over 200 000 K's all Misubishi's will burn oil, they use sh#t oil rings in em, always have.

Oh now come on nearly all cars over 200,000klm will burn some oil its got nothing to do with what there built with cos if the rings were a problem they would be a problem alot earlier than now so i think your just talking SH!T myself........ and as for a porous block the problem would have occured earlier than now and as for valve stem seals you would see it blowing smoke after idling at light and so on
