Hey all looking at some new shoes and the mtz ring a bell what are they like on the road thats my question they seam to rate good in just about everything but to get to anywhere off road usually have to drive on a road to get there would they be good as dailys or will they just get munted ive got the atz now and there pretty good just wanted something a bit more aggressive but still does just about everything?

Hi Sideways svc

Current issue of Australian 4WD action have a tyre comparo. Worth a read if you are considering new tyres. They cover a lot of various aspects of driving with some interesting results

basically thats what ive read but what about lifespan kms i mean i dont wan2 buy a tyre thats sweet for 5000kms nor do i expect it to last a quadzillion kms either i just expect it to last what i throw at it as well as driving on the road?

Expect about 40 thou from them unless you are willing to rotate every 5 thou. Once they get down to 50% they definitely lose their bite. Dont know what side of town you are from but I get my boots from Total Traction Tyres at Lonsdale, tell them Moose sent you. Prob charge you double.:D

Hey there...
got them on my Pajero...
and I'm very happy with them... traction like hell and if you care for tyre pressure - suited to the terrain you will not regret the buy...
that test is certainly not representative - as we all know it depends much on tyre pressure, vehicle and so on.... for my opinion - I would go with them again...
they are reasonable on the blacktop and excellent on most terrains possible...
as I have them for a couple of month and k's I cant tell you how many k's they last...
for my point everything exceeding 40000km is good....

cheers

yer well those are the sorta kms i would expect generaly i would do between 25-30thou kms a year so if i had to buy tyres every 2-3 years id be happy since they are a fairly important piece of a car it doesnt matter that much on cost

I'm on my second set now. First ones did just on 70 000 k but I reckon I could have got 80 000. Only reason I changed them was we were heading to the Alps for Xmas and i knew I needed maximum traction. I did give the new ones a fair flogging however they are still going fine so I'll let you know how they wear over the next 12 months.

ye i wouldent have a clue on life span eather sideways and as my 4by is not our day'ly driver thay should last me a few years i hope:D
and as tomdownunder said if you look after any tyre you should get good ks out of them

I'll have have my two cents worth as well . I'm now running Maxxis Bighorns & i reckon they are brilliant. The bit of noise they talk about isn't an issue for me as the BT50 has excellent noise reduction with the window up. In every other department they will challange the best.
Check out the lastest 4x4 action mag . They have a good outcome for an aggressive shoe .

yeah

great tyre quiet on the blackstuff and come from the factory reasonably balanced have had 7ooo out of this set and yes regular rotation works heh and they look cool, I have 35s on 10 rims and they seem a good compromise over ats
