CLOSED AREAS
Safety alert - Access - Deua National Park
Exercise caution if crossing creeks and rivers in Deua National Park. Creek and river bed conditions and depths may have changed significantly following recent heavy rain. For more information, please contact NPWS Narooma on (02) 4476 0800.
Some trails not suitable for trailer access
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has had advisory signs in place for some time to encourage people towing 4WD trailers to avoid some of the steeper, harder-to-maintain trails in Deua National Park. However, due to ongoing damage to trails as a result of continued inappropriate use of 4WDs towing trailers on these signposted trails, NPWS is now prohibiting the use of trailers on the following trails in Deua National Park:
Dampier Mountain trail
Oulla Creek trail
Minuma Range trail
Merricumbene trail
Mongamula trail
Dry Creek trail
It is now an offence to tow trailers on these trails. The penalty for towing trailers on these trails is a $300 penalty infringement notice, or higher if the matter is taken to court.
By keeping trailers away from these identified trails, you reduce the safety risk to yourself and others, reduce damage to the park environment and your assets and reduce park maintenance costs, a benefit to everyone.
Trailer access to Bendethera is still available from Moruya via Little Sugarloaf Road and Bendethera trail. From Braidwood, this increases travel time by about 30 minutes to 1 hour. For more information, please contact NPWS Narooma on (02) 4476 0800.
Been like it for a few years. They just never inforced it we have towed ours around most tracks and seen the rangers never a word said. However mid last year some dumb f#### towed up mericbene fire trail during a very wet period and completely ruined the track they actually shut it for a period to repair the track. Was speaking with a ranger a Xmas time he reckons if people continue to take trailers on Dampier and mericbene fire trails they will either gate the area off all together or start charging for camping to cover costs of maintaining the trails. As he was saying it's a very important fire brake / trail from the coast to the mountains and during a major bushfire bendeathra is a main refuge point for the emergency services. So hopefully everyone respects what the are asking trailer wise myself included and we won't lose another great free accessible camping area fingers crossed. SPREAD THE WORD. CheersHad no idea this area was no trailer. Been through there heaps and must say normally one of the 4wd's in our convoy will have a bike trailer, as we usually do the trip on bikes. In fact on our last trip we ran into the ranger and we had the trailer, he didn't say a thing to us.

Water is a bit cold but nice buy the arvo for a swim Def wasn't when I jumped in at 8 am this morning that's for sure. Just bit of a yard stick for you guys it took me and another stock hilux not that it matters being stock or not with how the tracks are at present 6 hrs from camp at Benny this morning going via merricbene, dry creek camp ground, Araluen to Braidwood that's was with a couple of quick stops 5 mins and about 40 mind for lunch and a swim included in that 6 hrs hope you guys enjoy your trip it's beautiful country through there that's for sure cheers bugsy.
