MemoryMap for All on Android Head unit

I am running MemoryMap for All (MMFA) on a Android Teyes CC3, version 10, head unit. I am unable to save/load files from the app. When I go into permisions for the app it has "location". When I install apps I am not asked to grant permissions. I am also running Exploroz & OziExplorer, they both have "location" & "storage" permissions & I am able to save/load files. I have contacted MMFA & they say "Memory-Map for All complies with the latest Android Scoped Storage requirements and does not need any external storage permissions." Interested to hear from others running MMFA on Android & if they can save/load.

Thanks, Kevin

I have exactly the same problem on a android head unit.

When you go to load or save files, including maps, does it flash up with the dialogue and then shrink to the top left corner? It means I can't import all my old maps, but can do the ones on their server.

It works perfectly on my tablet, and Memory Map Android works perfect on my head unit.

I got the same reply from MM. I might ping them again.

Yes, that is exactly the same problem I have. What Android head unit are you running ? It would be good if you could also contact them again to show that it is not a "once of". What do "permissions" show for MMFA on your head unit?

I have a shitty EC Vision android unit adapter. It is a few years old, and I was thinking if I updated the unit it would fix the problem.

I just emailed MM on this saying there is more than one of us. And is there a work around? I think it has something to do with the car skin. Though I changed that to no avail.

I hope we can fix this, IMHO MMFA is the best mapping program by a mile.

What response did you get from Memory-Map?

They said it is a function of Anrdoid,, and they can't change it and to go to the screen manufacturer. I think it is the skin that stops it woking.

They said the only way they know is for me to get a jailbreak version. but I don't think that is viable.

I know the problem is in the head unit my other devices all work fine. I was hoping for a work around.

I found a work around to include maps.

I installed Teamviewer Quick Support on my android Head unit, and Teamviewer on my laptop. This allows you to remotely take control of your Head unit from the PC and to do file transfers. Read the instructions as it can be a bit confusing. You need to be online on your head unit.

You connect to the head unit and bring up the file transfer function.

Then on the Head unit directory, look for where MMFA stores its data. Mine is as per below. Then if you look in the mmfa folder you can see the various map folders and your existing files. I copied them across from my PC. Then once I did that opened them in MMFA. some needed licencing like normal.

I tried something similar in a file explorer app but somehow the Teamviewer bypasses the security.

Bingo
