Maps for Garmin Oregon

I recently got a Garmin Oregon 650 and the maps that came with it are pretty poor. Does anyone know where I can get better maps for it from that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

I have a 700. As you say, the base map is pretty average.

I purchased Garmin topo oz/NZ

I also added osm and oz toppo to mine.

I have made custom maps from google earth too, but that is one hell of a process.....

I find no one map is the goods and it helps to have a few different types at your disposal.

Google is your friend here, there is heaps of info out there.

To be honest, I use my 700 for its accuracy, but if I need mapping, I just revert to ozi android on my phone/tablet.

You normally either buy a mapping GPS preloaded with topo maps or not, if not it will just come with the base map which will only show main arterial roads.
You need this to be able to use the unit to its potential-

I also use Avenza on android as well but if I am on foot I will have both.
