I've looked and looked and looked and keep coming back to Memory Map or OziExplorer.
I like Memory Map because you can use it on IOZ, MAC, WIndows and Android with free software. You pay for the maps.
It will import and geocache maps ( PC version) and you can use the maps on all platforms.
If you go off the beaten track then anything based on Open Street Maps ( OSM) is just dangerous, useless junk.
Memory Maps and Hema 4WD are same same but as Boobook said you can import other maps into MM whereas you can only use Hema maps with Hema.
I have the Hema 4WD app and happy with it but would probably go with MM if I purchased again to give the option of using other map sets
Alby. I reckon you can use other maps. There is an article about it on the memory map website.Memory Maps and Hema 4WD are same same but as Boobook said you can import other maps into MM whereas you can only use Hema maps with Hema.

Thanks for thatI also have hema 4wd which is ok. I’ve been using maps.me (open source off line) for a few years in pretty obscure places and more than once it has proven more detailed and more accurate than the name brand mapping services. It is free and I’d recommend having it as a backup plan at least. It is remarkably similar to the old shonky maps so there may be something in that.
