Mansfield Hut Hopping - Vic High Country

Hi all. Planning on making a Vic High Country trip from Sydney in early March. Looking to set up base somewhere near the Mansfield Area, and then make day trips out on some of the tracks to see a few huts. Looking for some tracks that will be fun and decently challenging. Just have some questions on the following:

1. Where is a good camp site near the Mansfield Area for base camp and hut hopping?
2. Which are the best 4WD tracks around the area that lead to the huts?
3. Which are the best huts to see? I know Craig's Hut is quite famous.

We wil be staying for 3 nights.

King Valley, Pineapple Flat, Sheepyard Flat, 8 mile, all good camp sites with good access to a few huts. King Valley has a hut.

Yep, I would add any of the sampsites east of Sheepyard and Granny's flat too. They all get very busy on long weekends and in summer. I am near Granny's at the moment and it is busy as.

Get the rootop Jamieson Licola and Jaimeson Howitt Maps.

Make sure you check for track closure, due to all the rain there will be additional closures.
Pretty sure a few up around Craig’s hut are closed , last I looked at the DELP sites Monument track and Clear hills were shut with no reopening date listed

Does anyone know if there is a shorter trek from Mansfield to Dargo? I belive you need about 4 days to complete this without spending all day on the tracks. For example, can we start at Mansfield and exit earlier in another town. We only have 3 days.

Mansfield - Jamieson - Licola About 2 1/2 hours on bitumen.

Then Licola to Moroka to Briagalon maybe 2 - 3 hours then up to Dargo, say 1 - 1/2 hours.

Or Licola to Zeka Spur Track and Wonnangatta, or Billy Goat Bluff track and Crooked River.
