When doing 4wd recoveries, you should always use rated reco gear

Im trying to find out about soft shackles.

You can buy 10mm rope say 9t rated, make your own soft shackle, so very easy to do

    what happens if it fails?
regarding legal aspect as if someone gets hurt and things get damaged. if your part of a paid 4wd club?

Far as I can see, the store bought shackles is rope rating.

if you modified the rated rope it's no longer rated, unless it's tested / certified ect

    Hmmmm

    Rope rating is rope rating.

It’s the knot that will affect the rating.

Seems to by the way things are going now. Plus it makes my gear bag heaps lighter.

I think they have been around for many years. But many on boats. They have only been on 4wds for a short time now.
