what are peoples opinions on ones around the 5k mark.. im going to be in the market too soon, but i only want the trailer and tent, dont want all the fancy crap, decent frame. decent tent.??
It depends on all sorts of things, what you want to do with it, where you intend to travel, how often do you want to use it etc. I bought a GIC off road model, had an onboard water tank, front toolbox, external tap and gas struts fitted so I can load the trailer from above with the tent tipped up and paid around $5800 for it. I am under no false impressions that it is a basic, camper trailer which should see me for many years as we intend not to go full off road, and use it possibly for weekends mainly about 5 to 6 times a year. Its garaged and therefore kept dry all year round. As a previous post said the trailers are OK, tents are from China and so some might argue about the Australian conditions being too harsh for the canvass but to be honest, I dont like the idea of pitching it beneath trees and staining it or packing it up wet on my newly acquired mattress so a large light weight tarp over the top is the go. Bird S**t can really make your new investment look crabby.
It shorses for courses. Like many I admire the real off road, last a lifetime campers but I simply would never get value out of them because of my light useage.
