Hello everyone,
Just wondering what were everyones thoughts on a LN65 Hilux? This one has the 2L in it with the 5-speed manual, only 294,000 k's on the clock and a few extra goodies: ARB winch bullbar, twin spotties on the bullbar, 25 inch lightbar on the roof, recovery points front and rear, safari snorkel, roll-bar off a 2016 model and dual diff breathers. Just wondering what were thoughts on daily driving (sound, comfort), off-road capability and cost for add-ons like lockers and lift-kits?
Cheers,
Rackers

I love my LN65 dual cab. I daily drive it sometimes but it's good to have a "nice" car as well for when I can be bothered driving the lux. Stock, on road manners are pretty terrible (handling, braking, ride quality, road noise). It's an 80's truck and it drives like one.
I added a heap of Chinamat insulation to mine and it's actually pretty quiet now, made it so much nicer to drive. Plus I have nice seats in it. These 2 mods made a huge difference to the driveability IMO.

All its on road foibles are forgiven the first time you lock the hubs in and engage low range. It'll go pretty much anywhere you point it.
Solid front end means the off road capability is excellent, although leaf springs do have their limitations.

Lockers and lift kits are no more expensive than any other 4wd.

The 2l "flat to the floor 2.4" is an absolute slug however and struggles to keep up with traffic. Pretty bulletproof though. Mine was still running at 750000km when I pulled it out for the 7m swap.

Hello,
Just reading your reply, i have a LN65 trayback ute diesel 1986, i am looking to bring it up to scratch, someone tec screwed Hyundi seats into it!! so i am looking at the original three seater bench or the split equivalent, as long as it can seat three, anyone know what will fit into my Hilux from other model hiluxes?
Just about to strip it down and need a bit of help regarding what parts are interchangable from other hiluxes.
thanks in advance.
