How much damage to the bank account did that all do? Seeing the drop in revs @ 110km/hr really makes me want to do it haha
We picked the 5th gear up from a 4wd show for $1100 show special, we got two quote for fitting both were $1600 including removing the box. If you can remove the box yourself labour I was quoted to to fit was $850. Could be done for under 2K. Keeping our old box means we keep the better 2nd gear ratio.

Yeah, we did carbuilders a while ago. We did it in stages so maybe that's why we weren't blown away by the difference. See how you go.
On the way down to Port Lincoln on Friday I was positively influencing the minister of war and finance about doing the sound deadening all at once and she seemed pretty keen on the idea too

Powerpipe added, looking at replacement airbox options also.
Nice :D Has it made much of a change yet or are you waiting for a new airbox before you judge it? Will you need your remap tweaked?

You have to get the tune tweaked with the pipe as the factory MAF pipe is 3inch. This is 4in so you need the airflow tables all tweaked. Airbox will be in a few weeks, car is currently making 171rwkws at 25PSI boost limit. Turbo can do 32PSI but we don't want to push it as vehicle is a tourer, reliability is top priorty.

Hi Guys,

I'm back trawling your thread to steal some of your ideas.

Two queries.. what is the rating of your rear leaf springs?

Secondly, I've noticed that you're using Koni 90 shocks. What swayed your mind to select these over other options? My research is showing they're similarly priced to ARBs BP-51 which complement a 3600kg GVM upgrade.

Any general feedback on your experience with the Konis would be great - it doesn't seem to be that popular with the 70 series and I'm trying to understand why. Would you select them again?

Cheers,

Hi rynet,
We have OME 400kg constant springs in the rear with airbag helpers. Generally we run 5-10psi in the bags, fully loaded around 15-20psi.
The Koni's have been great, admittedly we've only had them two years and roughly 65000kms, I would absolutely buy them over BP51s. We actually decided to buy them after talking to a lot of other 4wds into remote travel and reading Connie Sue's husbands blog on them. The final straw was doing a 4wd training course where the instructor informed me had had Koni raids with 360000kms on them with no rebuild. If I was to go a remote res shock it would be a set of kings shocks.

I know its not 70s i have the 90s in a patrol way over gvm . at the time of doing my shocks research they where the most basic mid to top of the line shock.
