Here's a sneak peak at the next 400 Series Landcruiser. Please note this is NOT a Sahara as it has no sunroof!

He also said the Car Advice article from last month is considered to be pretty accurate.
Well, based on 100 variations on their rumours Rusty, ranging from 4 cyl, to straight 6, to V6, to no diesel, to V8 stays, to no 300 at all ONE of their speculative articles has to be close to the mark. :D

If the 300 spells the end of the V8 then it has to be the shortest lived engine Toyota has ever made.

Correct. Forgetting the other approx 40 engines that didn't last 14 years, and the fact that the V8 is still being made, probably till 2027 for the 70 series of course. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good stir Rusty

;)

I realise it may live on for a while in the 70's but I am talking about the flagship Cruisers. When I think Landcruiser I think about 60, 80, 100 and 200 series not the farmers trucks or even the troopies. The 2H, 1HZ, 1HD-FTE were used for many years and were all great engines and continued to be used through more then one model. It's a similar story with the petrols.

So, don't take offence at my comments, I have always been a huge Cruiser fan and loved the 40, 60, 80 and 105 that I have owned. I was however disappointed that Toyota seemed to change tack after the 80 series and made Cruisers more of a status symbol than a tough off roader.

All good Rusty. I'm not taking offence. If that's your opinion fair cop. I Personally I don't care if you poke any particular Toyotas. It's all 4x4 Earth banter. You ( I ) have to take what you ( I ) give. Though some comments pretending to be facts are laughable 'bubble land', that's a general comment on the forum, not directed at you. It's what makes this place entertaining. Shits and giggles Rusty.

the simple reality is the image of being tough, rugged, manly is a bigger seller than actually being that.

Looks like the 300 may have finally stepped into the modern age with the 3rd row seating - looks to have a decent foot well so should be a more comfortable place than the previous flat floor setup. Probably not that big of a deal for me as by the time I could afford one I would have kicked a couple of kids out of home so would no longer required it

Hey all I'm Mike, an editor at CarExpert.com.au (ex CarAdvice/Nine).

Posting a few links to stories we've run today based on chief engineer and co comments, that I figured you might find interesting. No obligation!

Thanks guys.

PS like the forum, as does my MY19 Jimny on pluggers :)

That's interesting, I stopped reading car advice years ago due to so much one-sided and misleading information which I presume was due to the manufacturers 'sponsoring' the articles. I have noticed more recently that Paul also seems to have moved to the car expert branding which makes me wonder what's actually happened behind the scenes. I actually find the format of his new videos to be more realistic than the car advice articles of year's gone by.

I'd love to know why your online articles printed each and every rumour as if it was a fact. You reported quite a few engine options as if you had an inside story, when you were just stealing rumours from Japanese or Russian websites like everyone else.

For example, you reported that it has a 2.8 several months ago, then later changed based on more credible rumours and THEN took the credit for predicting it correctly.

"It’ll continue to employ a ladder-frame construction and a four-link, coil-sprung live rear axle, while the recently updated 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder will also carry over largely unchanged at launch." There are dozens of examples. Admittedly the other toilet paper car mags do the same, it's a race to the bottom ( So to speak) :D

The things that gets me, is you said it will happen, but anyone with google translate could steal that Japanese rumour website content. Why didn't you attribute the information to the source you stole it from?

Your information, magazine and credibility is basically junk. You are the editor, and you should fix that poor journalism. Unless it's all to deceive the reader, get clicks, and attract advertisers. THEN you are doing an outstanding job - for the owners, not the readers.

IMHO of course.
