Labour day weekend March 7th 8th 9th & 10th a 4WD trip is on

LABOUR DAY WEEK END - WONNANGATTA VALLEY.
Wonnangatta Valley is considered the Mecca for 4WD driving in Victoria. We are going in via the ZEKA SPUR TRACK where many a bunghole has puckered up, it is quite steep in places, in dry conditions it would be rated MEDIUM to DIFFICULT, in the wet EFFING INTERESTING . The usual route in is via Licola and then Arbuckle junction but as Cheynes Bridge is out of commission the road at the time of writing is closed
FRIDAY
Make your way to MANSFIELD ( last chance for fuel )
Take the MOUNT BULLER ROAD to MERRIJIG ( last chance for grog )
3 KM'S from MERRIJIG, TURN RIGHT onto the HOWQUA TRACK.
17 KM'S you should be at SHEEPYARD FLAT ( track off to RIGHT ), follow the track which winds up and around to FRED FRY'S HUT camping area , find your own space .
SATURDAY
Break camp. Retrace the track back to the T INTERSECTION of HOWQUA TRACK/BROOKS ROAD.
ZERO you odometer, this is where the trip starts in earnest,
TURN RIGHT- On your way, you will pass PICKERINGS HUT, NOONAN'S HUT and GARDINER'S HUT off to your left.
19 KM'S - T JUNCTION - TURN LEFT into BLUFF LINK ROAD
25 KM'S - Track off to right - Do not turn into , PSA.
29 KM'S - JUNCTION - TURN RIGHT into BLUFF TRACK On this track you will pass BLUFF HUT on your right and later on LOVICK'S HUT on your left. TURN LEFT at KING BILLY TRACK
42 KM'S - INTERSECTION - PSA on HOWITT ROAD .
50 KM'S - Track off to left - Do not turn into
53 KM'S - INTERSECTION - TURN LEFT onto ZEKA SPUR TRACK .
75 KM'S - JUNCTION - STAY TO THE RIGHT HAND TRACK , do no not go left onto Riley's Track.
82 KM"S - WONNANGATTA HOMESTEAD SITE and CEMENTRY, Keep to the LEFT and if possible get down to the rivers bank and set up camp, have a beer and/or sightsee .
SUNDAY
Break camp, there are 2 options for those who have had enough there is the mild way out via RILEY'S TRACK , BUFFALO RIVER VALLEY, DANGDONGAVALE, WHITFIELD, MANSFIELD and then back to the BIG SMOKE .
Alternatively
For those of pure at heart , the adventure continues- zero your odometer. If the river is up, which is doubtful, you will find that your snorkels are indeed wonderful things, 8 crossings .HERNES SPUR can be interesting if wet, let the vehicle in front have a bit of space .
We head roughly SSE along the Wonangatta Track,
9 KM'S - HART SPUR TRACK on LEFT do not turn into -PSA along HERNES SPUR TRACK
13KM'S - at T INTERSCTION turn RIGHT onto WOMBAT RANGE TRACK.
20 KM'S - T JUNCTION, TURN LEFT onto CYNTHIA RANGE TRACK.
30 KM'S - T JUNCTION TURN LEFT onto CROOKED RIVER TRACK
31 KM'S - Collingwood Spur Track on right - Do not turn into - PSA
34 KM"S - TALBOTVILLE, make camp, tell lies, drink grog etc
MONDAY
We then make the relatively easy trip to the Dargo township, alternatively to Harrietville , Bright and Back to the BIG SMOKE
