Just to give you heads up

Hey Guys,

It may not apply to most of you, but I just thought I'd let you know about a bit of goss I found out about.
I work as a transport Supervisor and deal with Vic Roads and the RTA applying for oversize permits and that sort of stuff on a daily basis.
As of the 29th of Sept the knew driver fatigue laws and work diaries were introduced nationally, and, while talking to Vic Roads recently, I was told that for at least the next 90 days they would be coming down heavily on all major highways to make sure everyone is up to date on the new changes.
Although this really only applies to trucks, I was told that they won't discriminate when it comes to road worthiness, registration and licensing, and will be stopping as many vehicles as possible during this time.
The one thing she wouldn't tell me was where they would be setting up. Sorry guys, I did try!
I just though I'd give you all the heads up, especially with the long weekend coming up soon.

I just had a look at one of those work diary's - you need a degree just to work out how to fill one in. They are making it hard now - I'm thinking it could be very easy to make a mistake. I'm glad I only drive long distance a few times a year.

Cheers

Advanced fatigue management? Whats the point? It says operator to propose. All looks very complicated. More revenue due to unworkable legislation!

Advance fatigue management is a crock of s#*t. not worth the paper it's written on! If you need to do anything go the basic, cause there is no grace on standard hours, if you go 5mins over your 12 hours you'd wanna have a fat wallet. Funny thing is, it's not VicRoads and their equivalents that have made these rules, it all comes from :mad:unions:mad:.
