Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited Lift

G'day fellers!

I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited that I want to put a lift on. I was thinking of a 4" lift, but when told I will need yo get it engineered, I thought I might look at 6"!

What are your thoughts on size, 4" vs 6"
What would each cost?
How do I go about engineering?
Ideas on cost?
Who in Adelaide can/will do this?

Also, I can bring the kit in from the US, if that helped.

Cheers,
Mike

be smart and dont bring your lift in from the US. remember they are left hand drive and their kits dont generally suit. I have a 2012 unlimited rubicon and went with a 3.5" premium lift.with a hi steer and steering dampner relocation. its bumpstopped for 37's and is all the lift needed. my kit is engineered but the ride height is not. I dont know the law in sa but if its anything like the other states it will still be illegal.
if your interested in the aev kit I can certainly hook you up with the right guy to supply. to do what I did excluding the tyres you are up for around $4000 or so fitted. I am really happy with mine. it drives better on the road than it did standard. send me a pm if your interested in speaking to someone about it.

Goto ausjeepoffroad.com mate plenty of I do there for the jeep. I loved that site top ppl for when I had my jeep. Everything u wanna know will have been covered there. Good luck with the jeep. But in my opinion you really don't need 6 I Che's of lift in a jeep..... 4 is more then enough unless u wanna build into a comp truck or a cop magnet.

Thanks guys! Everyone is talking me "down" :))) from the 6", and the comment about a cop magnet is a worry!

Looks like I may go 4" (rugged ridge fitted at Oppersite Lock) and 35" tyres ...

I know I should engineer it, what is the worst that can happen if I don't? I am not a youngster on my Ps (no disrespect intended to blokes on Ps), so hope not to attract cops ... Also, anyone know where/how to get it done?

Thanks lads!

be careful with the rugged ridge stuff. it is cheap and nasty chinese crap. give Murchison Products a call. he will put you in touch with the local AEV dealer in your State. honestly its a great kit and its made by the guus who engineer all the jeep oem gear.

Thanks Brian,
It looks like this thread has gone really quiet. I wonder how he went and what he ended up choosing in the end..

Yeah pretty old thread mate , just thought any other jeep owners that happen to read it it may help stear them in the right direction.

Think you'd be the most knowledgeable member on the forum when it comes to jeeps mate:).

I ordered my own kit from the States, but that was when our dollar was stronger and I knew what I was after.

You need to workout what type of driving you intend to do and then research what would work.

Don't go for anything that just adds height unless it is under 2"s as any lift over that requires more components to be complete.

Most US kits are designed with extra weight in mind like front and rear bars, winch, tyre carrier, racks, so will stand taller if not weighted down. Which is what most 4wdrivers over here tend to do anyway.(Weigh their vehicles down).
