Hi, I might finally get a car soon and just remembered you have to insure the buggers!!

Where should i go for insurance in Victoria diesel 60 series with 2inch lift and snorkel being only mods? Basic cover, cheap type thing?

Thanks

I can tell where not to get insurance. After the car was stolen in January, Budget Direct say that I am now too high a risk to insure. One claim in 35 years. I don't think that is fair or reasonable.

Got a quote off them last year, dunno where the hell the 'budget' bit is, what a bloody rip-off!
With AAMI at the moment, cheap but will be checking exactly what they cover, and may yet go with
Aust 4wd Insurance, will cover all my mods and accs, on any track(or off) in the country, as well as
camping gear.
Was Patriot looking at some sort of deal for insurance as a sponsor here??

No Grumpy, I ain't joking, its a true story. But I went with affinity and they seem to be good. The price seemed good to me as well. They specialise in 4wd including your recovery gear etc.

I am with RACV at the moment. Am waiting on Aust 4WD Insurance to get back to with a quote for full comp on the 96 Pajero with some minor mods. Any other suggestions out there.

Hi Robz
How did you find them, apart rom the 2 week bit. I haven't had to claim with them yet, hopefully wont have to either. Was your claim due to offroad use, were you on a gazetted / marked track. Would be interested in some feedback.
Thanks

Was on a made bitumen road.
Tree over road at night.
Argued with them a bit over price, but once agree on was paid out quickly.
RACV also do a total care insurance, a bit dearer but has allot of extras.
Might be worth giving them a call and see what they say.

Well guys'/ gals',
Who ever you go with, check things like how much they will pay for stuff/gear stolen out of your vehicle/trailer. I had $3500 worth of stuff stolen out of my car in Melb, and all I could claim for was up to $500, then would have to pay $400 excess, so I could only get a grand total of $100, then if I had claimed that, my premium was going to go up the next year.
The only way I could have recieved full compensation was if it was a work vehicle and it was work related stuff stolen.

Cheers Chops

Up in Bris I am with Suncorp which covers everything. Being a offroad vehicle, you need to make sure the insurance covers you while out on a track. The only thing is a $400 excess fee on each claim but I could pay more and get that lower.

Talk to a insurance Broker which someone else mentioned earlier.

Im with affinity also, affinity are brokers aswell. I had my 60 with Affinity and they were the cheapest, i think they only do full comp.

I've got my 2 vehicles and houses through WesFarmers. Made a claim about 18 months ago on a Hilux i wrote off up in Karratha. They didn't even want to look at it but i suggested i send some pics to them. Paid me in full what i paid with ALL mods covered. Can't say a bad word about them. Full comp costs about $500.

With the Cruiser, they did say they don't cover suspension lifts though. It's now a "tow pack"....;);):D

Well, here we go again, just received my insurance policy and it's gone up 30% from last year, checked a few companies on line, and from the cheapest to the highest price differs almost $1000 !!
Don't know about you guys, but I'm always battling premium risers with Insurers, car, house, whatever, after all the multiple commissions and fees on the premium, what is the products real value ??

i just insured my new girl with Aust 4wd and was happy with what i got .... and more so cos my young fella will be driving too as he turned 16 today:eek: it is a bit less than RACV but covers more plus you can add and mods to it ....RACV will only cover up to a certain amount regardless of extras:rolleyes:
