Idle up button question

I've noticed my idle up button is not illuminated when the dash lights are on. I have removed it and checked the wire feeding it for lighting it and sure it enough it has power when the lights are turned on so fault must be withing the button. either that or it doesn"t have the ability to light up unlike the power antenna.

can another 79 series owner confirm that their button is illuminated when lights are on?

I can’t say I have ever noticed whether it is illumuminated or not . I will have a look tonight for you

thanks for that, mine must be dodgy. I now think it hasn't lit up since having the vehicle from new

the mystery deepens. checked another same year LandCruiser (2016) and theirs is not lit either. we went through the rigmarole again of removing the switch and there is power to it when light are on, but it doesn't illuminate. wonder if this is a quirk with the v8 79 series

Maybe nothing as I wouldn't own 1. BUT.

doesn't the idle up only work when the engine is cold ?? To get engine to working temp. if so maybe the light will only come on when it's in the "up idle" and operating..

can use it any time. I activate it when winching , some use it as a crawler gear throttle
