Ok i use 2x41s Icom 5watt Handhelds on my journeys,They have just released a W version.I use one connected to an RFI 3.0db or 6.5db external aerial connected using a BNC connector which is a simple twist on and off...There still only 40 channels each and will cost me $45 to have them converted to 80 channel...The new W has 80 channels.

Here are a series of photo's explaning how its done...

These units have been brilliant,They have external Icom covers and havnt missed a beat..

Here is the manual and specs:

http://www.icom-australia.com/products/uhf/ic_41s/UHFCB_IC-41S%20Instructionmanual.pdf

ICOM AUSTRALIA: UHF CB

Update:One unit has now been updated to 80 channels.

They will transmit using an external aerial the same as a 5watt in car unit..

"Warning: Be aware there are cheaper versions of these units and are most likely "Grey Imports". Icom will not warrant these units..."

There Beware Page For Added Info On This: ICOM AUSTRALIA

Note:
These Reviews i write are from my own Camping Gear that i have bought over the years that i have used and paid in full...Ive decided to write these reports so my fellow 4x4Earthers can make a valid choice on what gear to buy whether it be of high grade quality or poor quality.
