They would likely be clips of some sort.
Looks like the trim is fitted under that and then the panel hides it all.
Many clips are virtually designed to break though !!
I'd think a trim removal tool like this . . .
or this . . .
would do the trick, both sold by SCA.

But maybe an option is to drop by a auto trimmer, they'd probably pop them off for you, and easy enough to refit yourself once you've done whatever needs doing.
