How difficult is Little Bunyip Track

Hello!

Has anyone recently done Little Bunyip Track and Bunyip Ridge Track in Bunyip State Forest recently?

I have a Patriot and wouldn't mind a crack at it if there is a fair chance we wont run into too much trouble.

Thanks

They are ok depending on your vehicle and weather. Little Bunyip Tk has a hole about 1/2 way along. You step down into it going North or step up out of heading south. I got down there ok but haven't been up. Bunyip Ridge Tk is good both ways, my vehicle has ATs and a little lift. There's a good ascent going east, or decent going west - the ascent is more fun than the descent. You will NOT get up or down Anderson Tk as the vehicles with 35+ tyres have chewed it up so much you almost need 40+ tyres to get anywhere as ruts are way too deep. Gentle Annie is a good track and should be ok for your vehicle, nice rock garden at the top.
Always take a mate with another 4x4 vehicle when you go out though. Beats a long walk.

It seems you know the area very well, I was disappointed that I couldnt find any tracks when I was there in early Jan. My vehicle is a 1985 HJ60 Diesel Landcruiser with a little lift, and I run Sunraysia's 15x8 with 31x15x10.5 Kumho 834 Muddies.:) From the sounds of the above description, mine should handle most but the Anderson Tk !!! Would this a fair assumption?;)

Have heard that a dozer was put through Andersons and is now a highway-haven't been out for a look myself yet.
Might have to organise a wheel up there in a few weeks.

Hey all
Most of the tracks are drivable with a little lift and AT tyres. Rocky Tk really needs grading as the rain all but washed it out. It was a great challenging track until the heavy rain.
I must say I haven't been to Andersons Tk for a month or so, you could be right, it may have been graded. My friend went down it in a stock 80series in the wetter months and got VERY stuck in the ruts. His car stayed there overnight and we had to hand winch him out! There's a track grade sign at the bottom and it's graded "double black diamond" which is VERY HARD. Sounds like you live closer than me Jok?
Love to go check it out.

Hey Jok
Yep, that's Anderson's Tk! Deep ruts. Just close to where we winched my mate out.
We are off to Walhalla on Monday. Starting at Beardmores Tk, Fulton's Creek Tk, Army Tk, Donnelleys Creek Tk to Merringtons for lunch. Then up the centre track on the way out of Merringtons, maybe Trig Tk on the way home. We will be on UHF ch 15 if you are around. We will be with a black Pathfinder, Maroon GU Patrol and Green GU Patrol.
Woods Point is nice, we had lunch by the river then did about 5 river crossings before turning back for home.
Sunday 17th sounds good. I will try and drum up some support.
Are you in the town or out of Bunyip?

Hi all,

I chickened out of going up Little Bunyip today, but was fine along Bunyip Ridge track. About half of it has been dozed recently. The track is pretty fun and not too taxing for a Jeep Patriot, apart from one hill towards the end as you are heading south. Needed a heavy foot to get up and it was pretty bouncy, but the car did pretty well. Woo Hoo. :)

That was the good news. The bad news was the camera went flat, and the laptop was buggered, so no GPS track. Guess I will have to do it again :)

Was up that way yesterday and andersons has defenitaly been graded. Half way up there are railway rocks to try and stop the track degrading but that not going to stop it. Give it some rain and it will be a hard track again. bunyip forest will be alot more fun with some decent rain fall. there is also some really good tracks in kurth kiln, but again still needs some decent rain. im getting sick of eating dust.

Sorry nickj i didnt realise you asked me a question in this thread. Um to answer your question i dont really know the names of the tracks there i just drive them and half of them have been closed permatly, but i believe there are some really good hard challenging ones still. Just this week i got my hands on some rooftop maps for my gps so in a couple of weeks im going down there for the day to explore them all. If you want i can let you know whats out there and maybe could organise a trip there.

cheers
