my 05 hilux steering wheel hAS recently started to wobble awfully at around 103 km/hr.kinda like vibrating.
im only runnning the shitty little tyres that it came with and its stock,
any ideas what might cause this. CV,s ??? wheel balance???

It will be either - wheel balance or tyre. Check the tyre by running the palm of your hand around the tread, if it is not smooth and you can see feathering of the tread edge then you can either rotate the tyres, or put up with it till you get some new ones, if it is not there then check if the rim hasn't thrown a weight off, if there is no weight on the rim get the tyres balanced again.

It could also be what they call 'run-out'. That's when a tyre is not perfectly round. I had a big problem with wheel vibrations on a Commodore. I got the tyres balanced and it still did not fix the prolem. Eventually I asked them to check if the tyre was round, and sure enough, as it was spinning on the balancing machine you could see that the shoulder was vibrating in and out as it was spinning.

This tyre looked OK in every way - plenty of tread and no obvious wear marks.

You could probably pick it yourself, if that was the problem, just by spinning the wheel on your car before you loosen any of the wheel nuts!

My old and worn out BFG's started doing that. Replaced the tyres and fixed it. Did a balance prior to the replacement and that didn't help.
