Hey,
I have purchased a 2004 D22 Navara which has a 3" exhaust and the turbo has also been upgraded from stock. The car drives really loud and is gutless AF. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to fix? Downgrade the exhaust or turbo maybe?
Thanks
Maybe take it to someone who knows diesels so they can check the condition of the motor first then they may be able to get it running correctly.

I would take it to a diesel specialist . When people mess with turbos on diesels its common for them also try and get more fuel burning and they stuff up the ratios . This can cause volcano like carbon build-ups on injectors that fowl up injector spray patterns . No amount of injector cleaner will get this off. Injectors have to come out . Black smoke on a diesel is catastrophic for its durability and life expectancy . People should always opt for the cleanest burn .

the 2.5 d22 is gutless / might be ok empty but who runs em empty / my d22 has a 3 inch which is great but in hindsight i would have had a 2 3/4 or a 2 3/4 past the firewall at least - there is just not enough clearance - i have had to panel beat the firewall to get more clearance - i cant remember the brand but the dump pipe cracked right through and had to be replaced and now there is a crack halfway round near the first cat flange - been a worthwhile episode but problematic - had no affect on the turbo-- i had worn out the turbo before putting in the exhaust at 250k // it now has 340k so all good
