HEMA HX2

Serious question for someone that HAS purchased the HX2, can you please PM me? I have a big ask about the device.

Prefer someone in Melbourne, but I can work with anyone from Australia.

Oh yeah, BCF and Anaconda both have the HX2 for $649 t the moment
What do u need to know about the HX2? I assume Hema has a lot of info re: HX2. Personally, I wouldn't buy one (or anything for that matter that has only just come out) as they have only just come out and it's unknown as to their durability and reliability. Going on their previous record, I probably wouldn't buy one anyhow...

When you plug the device into the computer when it's turned off, and then turn the HX2 on, what driver does it recognize?

I know with the HX1 it recognises the GPS as a "mt65xx preloader". I realise I could buy it myself, but if someone already has one that'd save me the $650.

The capabilities to install your own software on the GPS is also kind of tempting, like is possible on the HX1

You mean like a tablet? So it can do things other than be a gps?

There’s a very common theme in this thread. Unless the HX2 is a revolutionary improvement over the HX1 you’d be wise to avoid it.

I think that the big plus with using a tablet is the versatility of also running other programs like WikiCamps or just using the browser to research an area or information
Plus I like having a big screen to see a larger map area, I have trouble getting a visual on the big picture when you can only look at it in a limited area.
I run Hema on my phone and iPad and would never consider using my phone as a substitute to the iPad , I tried it last trip and it wasn’t that good

I just spent alot of coin and effort on the hx1 setting it up and now they have another one???? F me this is why society is gone, it's for people who keep buying new versions of windows yet the core features dont change. The hx1 does not let you simply keep the high res maps and only access with some bs network crap. They do this to milk us. The charge rate is also way too slow, the suction cap was under engineered and useless. Imo my little garmin handheld right next to left of stearing wheel was almost as good as the hx1 on windshield, had to mount it closer. But I like its simplicity, for guys who just want a basic nav and who dont have phones and tablets. It's acceptable.
8ohm speaker=muffeled flat laptop sound

But I like to get the paper maps out on the bonnet and crack open a cold one taking in the air.

Like what?
Sorry I have taken so long to reply, but been out of service, Logan's before Nolan's to start with, and if you head into the Holyroyd area on the Cape, you mays well throw their maps out the window

Ok, I’ll give you Logans but it is marked as a ford.
Not sure why Hema would waste resources mapping the Holyroyd area as I believe that area is only accessible as part of a paid tour. The main track is marked.
