Just get Memory Map, try it for free. The software is free and the maps can be used on a 3 day trial basis for free. Try it on your phone, your PC or better still get a moderately priced android. Android's file management is simpler and easier than Apple. If you do that make sure it has a GPS. Unlike Apples. the GPS is not tied to the Cellular versions and you need to check. You don't need to pay more than about $250. And what ever you do, do not buy a lenovo ( anything)
Yeah got memory maps but need to have a good look at it. As long as I can download maps I’ll be happy. Cheers mate

Lenovo have been ok for the past few years now. They did go through a horror patch before that. Been having more issues with HP lately.

Geez I hope so Mike. My last experience with them was about 5 years ago. Their products were totally flakey and customer support was worse.

I couldn't bring myself to give them another cent.

Can I ask why not the explorer upgraded to pro? So many people have differing opinions for the 2 apps! I want to get the most detail and happy to purchase in app maps to get the best out of it! Am interested to hear your thoughts on the two. Thanks mate
I actually have both but the Explorer app is very buggy and I no longer use it. If I didn’t have the Hema Maps I would go for ExplorOz Traveller. And may still get it anyway.

Customer service is still very average.

Yes it was about then that we gave them the flick too. Before then they were solid, we've still got working desktops that are 9-10 years old out in the wild. Been back with them for a few years and no trouble again....touch wood. :)

Hey guys, thinking about getting iPad mini with hema…
I know when going off grid, you need to actually download the maps. Just wondering how much memory the iPad would need?

From memory they take up 8 meg but you want more space than that available to you. I think the smallest you can buy now is 64meg anyway?

Thanks…. I’m thinking of getting a used one for cheaper. Did you mean 8 meg or 8 gig? If it’s only 8 meg a 16 gig will do the trick

Hema What? They have several products.

I'd say allow 1 - 2 Gig including maps

I had an issue not being able to install Hema 4WD on an iPhone years ago the program had an advertised space of 2 gig I think it was and it wouldn’t install. After speaking with customer support they told me you needed about 8 gig available to accommodate the temporary programs they need to load as part of the install. I had to delete a few things to allow it to install

I bought a used ipad mini from greengadgets.net.au. They were great to deal with (no affiliation with them, just excellent service).

They grade the condition of their devices. I can't recall exactly which condition they graded the one I purchased as but it was one or two grades below perfect. And honestly, it was in brand new condition. Not a blemish on it.

I got the 128gb version as I figured I could use the ipad to take photos, record videos and run various other programs while on the road. And THIS is why I didn't consider HEMA's proprietary system. I paid less than I would've if I bought the HX-1 for a tablet that does a whole lot more.

I use an iPad with Memory-Map that then has hems map downloaded with it
No issues with running offline just be sure to get a Cellular iPad . It does not need a sim card to operate as it has built in gps

Hey guys… the million dollar question…. What is the best 4x4 app. (For iPad mini) Ive researched heaps of reviews on YouTube. I just want to hear from people who actually use them.
I’ve never used a 4x4 nav or app before.
Something easy to use, can save designations easy and take me back there (in case I discover a place I won’t remember how to get back to)
And options that are most frequently used.

will it be hema explorer, hema 4x4 or something else?
