Just fount the update to google maps street view. Pretty amazing stuff. If your street on the map is blue then you can zoom in to see a photo of your house, street, driveway etc etc. Pretty impressive stuff!

Apparently the car drives down the street taking photos every second or two from 6 cameras in the car. Somehow a computer program then stiches it all together

Our house has the Xmas decorations so must have been completed in Dccember last year.

By the way thanks for dealing with mu up there.

Our one down here reminds me of the google car in that it currently taking photos maybe we will have to call it emucam:rolleyes:

Thats amazing - so a car or several cars have driven on every street in Aus. We had a look at the factory I work in and the cameras must be pretty highly mounted cause we could see what was in the back of the utes out on the road.

The camera is mounted on the roof of Holden Astras. It seems to have 9 lenses (creating full 360 panorama) taking snaps ever couple of seconds. I have found a few main track turnoffs, so it may help with nav's in unfamiliar territory (at least the main turnoffs). I was surprised to see a few remote places on dirt roads and even a couple of river crossings.
