Hi everyone, this is my first post here & Yes, I should have done the introduce yourself one first.... later.

I have just bought my first 4x4 & am keen to get out there & learn.

First task was to put a decent set of boots on it... I am hoping I have made the right choice & as the miles add on them, I intend to post updates.

I have just put 4 Light Truck 225x75xR16 Goodyear Silent Armour's on my 90 Series 2002 RV Prado TD.
They are a nice looking aggressive tyre & do run very quite.. They do feel rather soft though.

Questions are,
Has anyone had any experience with these boots?

if so, can you share the experience with me.

OR... Have I made my first rookie mistake? (not be the first time) :)

Took the Prado for its first spin today. Hard to compare tyres when you havnt driven the vehicle before, but, first impressions are promising.

Took it for a drive through the back roads of Kersbook & through to Tanunda.
The roads were EASY with a couple of moderately loose gravel, but, nothing I couldnt tackle in my Falcon.

I am running them at 39psi & kept them at this because I knew I wouldnt be takling anything major, & my compressor I ordered last week hasnt turned up yet.
Gota say, locking that centre diff on the dirt with these tyres makes it real sure footed & predictable.

More to follow.

i've had them on the gu for ages - been the best all rounder i've run, done over 25000k's and still holding up, they are very good on the blacktop and decent enough off road for touring etc, not suited to mud tracks but then what all terrain is !! if it's dry trails they are excellent

Thats intersting Millhouse, am wondering if you have the same as me?

There are 2 versions, one from the US & another from asia somewhere..

Mine have a real aggressive pattern & on the Good year site state 50% road & Sand & 50% mud etc.

not tried mine in mud yet... Tassie here I come!

Took the Prado down to Deep Creek on the weekend... Went down the blowhole beach track...

The Silent Armour's worked well... Ran them at around 39psi & didn't slip once.. 2nd low range

On the open road I get a slight drone at 100 or more & find them very predictable. Off road, they just bite in hard..
I am very impressed... now to see if they will last the distance.. About to embark on 3 weeks to Tassie & back from Adelaide & returning on the Great Ocean Rd..

Update

Well some 15 months & 25,000 kms later, the silent armours
Are holding up real nice.
They air down well & are not showing much wear at all.
Not real good in sticky mud but handle everything else well.

Overall pretty happy & no regrets with these tyres.

May go for coopers ST max or STT next time or even Mickey Thompson ATZ.
mainly for the more aggressive pattern.

I've got the wrangler M/t on mine and very happy.
As for the AT, I saw a set of these at the tyre shop when I bought mine. they were old ones off a mine truck and had been run to bare metal. the wires were literally hanging out of them and they still were holding air. I figured that was a good indication.
