Coal has been a big part of Germany's power. It's been reducing with gas and renewables, but with their gas imports reducing...

Our brown coal (lignite) mining / stations in Vic are based off their technology.

They are, but they also rely heavily on Russian gas. That didn't work out well for them. However, they now have accelerated their transition to renewables and that does not bode well for Russia in the long term.

You are probably aware that Germany is not the only European country that depends on Russian gas. They are all in trouble. But longer term it's Russia who will be worse off.
