G'day folks,
Just a quick introduction. The handles Mountain Man, because I live in the high country (snowy) funnily enough. I am a Dad and husband, as well as a pretty keen outdoorsman. Have been in and out of 4x4 vehicles for recreation and work for years now and I am involved in the emergency services, so they make up part of the kit.

Finally back into a 4x4 after a hiatus away from them in the personal field, SWMBO 'convinced' me as only a wife can to sell the SR5 that I loved to get a house. We have just bought ourselves an 08 Grand Vitara, though I would have preferred the Pajero I was eyeing off. Still it is a fourby, though I having all sorts of dramas finding bits for it.

Anyway look forward to contributing to some local tracks about here and will post them up as I get the GPS readings.

Cheers,
MM.

G'Day Mountain Man.
Gee, she sounds tough getting you sell, but plenty of my mates have Zook's and they are giggly like school girls. There's also plenty of stuff out there for them. I think you'll have fun with it.
Welcome! :)

Thanks for the welcome guys. Part of the reason that I agreed with the GV was that Suzuki has such a strong 4x4 history in Oz and everyone has done the research for the OEM parts. Most of the parts though only go onto an 05 model, which was different enough from the 08 model that buying them for the 08 is taking a punt.

The 2.4 is certainly not going to be breaking any land speed records and is low enough that I have dragged its guts more than once now... still it is the wifes daily driver before it is my toy. The build quality is awesome and it is pretty frugal, should make a decent tourer with a bit of tweaking. Don't know what the wife will say the first time I bag myself a Sambar and strap it to the bonnet though...:D

As for her convincing me to sell the SR5... she is part Russian and she was cranky... so she put forward a pretty strong argument.

Ahhh Tom... who knows I may be able to make Skipworth. However I think it may be before then, especially as I now have my NT Pajero!
