Hi anyone who bothers to read the intro's :D

Been on this site now and then for track & touring info (GREAT SITE!) and I thought it's time I got on here myself and learned to contribute some spots myself.

I'm in upper south east SA "The Good Country" and haven't even explored it thoroughly yet let alone the rest of the country.

A few of us locals recently started a new 4WD club for our area (Border Country 4WD Club) which is central to the "desert" parks and many conservation parks and we are progressively mapping out some "unknown tracks" in the area which also take in points of interest so that visitors to the area can explore and enjoy the area's attractions by linking them together by having to lock the hubs. ;)

(BTW my user name is nothing to do with being un-enviromental. I hire a slush puppy machine or two for events etc. and supply the juice concentrate (99%) as well so "crushaah" derived from that.)

See you's around
Dave

Hi Dave and welcome also.

As Grumpy said, I enjoy tripping around the three desert parks - Murray Sunset, Big Desert and Little Desert. Have done quite a few of the tracks, but plenty more to explore! Heading out that way again in a couple of weeks.

I have put a couple of postings up about 8 weeks ago in the Tracks Discussion section of the forum if your'e interested. And another one in January about my trip across the Milmed Rock Track, and Broadies Track a little to the south of the Milmed Track.

A couple of areas I have not explored yet are the top end of the Big Desert between the Murrayville/Nhill road and the Border Track, and on the other side between Big Billy camp ground and the Wyperfield Park. Was looking around these areas on Google Earth last night. There seems to be a lot of vegetation, so should be quite scenic.

Looking forward to reading of your adventures in these areas, and a few tips about good places to visit, and tracks to do, out there.

Cheers, Millsy.

Thanks guys. Yeah the areas we are mapping out are tracks to the south, and west of Bordertown. (Everyone already knows about the others - Ngarkat, Big & Little Desert etc.)
The tracks we are mapping out are old fire trails, old no name tracks between farms etc and any track basically that can be legally accessed and the hubs need locking. Quite a few around here and some interesting stuff to do and see as well.
One of the best parks around here in winter is Gum Lagoon, a beautiful spot. Not extreem but a few challenges in the wet.

Welcome mate, I get out to Keith fairly often to hunt, like it down that way. Enjoy the site
Gday Poolman84 and thanks. What sort of hunting do you do? My brother in law here is a keen bow hunter. Lots of feral deer around here as you would know then ;)

Yeah I've hardly touched Big Desert at all and I've lived here for nearly ten years! Yep lots of vegetation, deserts in name only. Little Desert actually has a high rainfall per year.
I've read most of your's and the others posts about the desert trips as its close to home. Enjoyable reading.
If you are ever passing through town and got time to stop give me call and stop in to say gday (number in sig line)
Dave

Yep, the Little Desert is great!

Have done a couple of low, struggling glider flights out of the Bordertown Gliding Club down towards the south west. I used to enjoy competing in their annual November regattas many moons ago.

One Sunday I gave up in disgust about 50km south west of Bordertown. I told my mate to hook up the trailer as I was heading for home, at Riverton. He followed me up the highway until we parted company at Tailem Bend, where I veered north. An hour and a half later he drove into the paddock next to Eudunda just as I was touching down. ( we had radio contact with each other). I reckon the weather got a bit better as we went north!

Do you know any of the club members. If you do, could you give us a PM since I might be looking to get in touch with the club over the next week or two. I changed from gliding to sailing about 18 years ago and am having trouble remembering their names!

And thanks, will try to look you up for a coffee and chat on the way through Bordertown one day. Could be passing through on my way back from Geelong in about four weeks.
