Fruit and Vegie Restrictions when Travelling

Its one of those things that you might not consider when travelling interstate but the quarantine issue is a big thing....especially if your caught out and have to throw away/eat all your supplies so they don't go to waste when pulled up at a border.

I researched this a fair bit on my first big trip away last year and found it all a bit confusing but l found this site today and it makes it much more readable and clearer to understand when going from one state to the next.
Hope it helps.

It's all quit simple - DON'T CARRY FRUIT & VEG WEST DOWN SOUTH! & Don't carry it East to Ceduna either.

If your going West from Sydney to Broken Hill for instance, there are restrictions & then from there into SA & AGAIN into WA (Which includes nuts in shell & HONEY!) - THEY WILL CHECK into SA & WA

Around the Riverina just going down the Border Track & Back up through say Berri - Wentworth & then Broken Hill is a NIGHTMARE!

I carry Frozen Veg Westbound which will last in a Fridge at normal Temp for a week - No peeling & easy to cook.

Did you loose an argument with "Someone" your way?:D

I just gave up on the restrictions & carry the frozen stuff Westbound. I thought I had it all sorted & then heading just out of Ceduna FROM WA - VEGI NAPPERS!!!!

Heading down from Cape York years ago - No problems right? - WRONG!!! they slammed on a temporary Vegi Napper SW of Cairns!

Drove into Queensland up the New England Highway a couple of weeks ago. There was—as I recall—a small sign warning us not to take grapes, strawberries, bananas and some fourth thing I missed as we whizzed past. Gherkins? Pomegranates? We had no fruit or vegetables with us so I felt OK about it all, but they really should make those signs bigger and perhaps repeat them a few times so the message sinks in. This is pretty important stuff which we should all take seriously—the authorities should make that as easy as possible.

That web site is pretty useful though—I'll print some of this stuff off for my next jaunt.
