G'day all

Heading up to Fraser Island for 10 days in Dec-Jan and was after as much advise as possible in regards to the better camp sites, camp set up (we have almost everything) and vechicle set up and recommended tracks.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers

one place you have to go is over to the western side of the island if its blowing a gale on the eastern side go up behind happy valley and continue just buetiful also dont neglect going to orchid beach so you can get away from the back packers there not allowed beyond indian head and you can usually have a laugh at them getting bogged as they dont let there tyres down its more interesting 4 wheeling over to the western side less trucks use it and no matts

Thanks for all of the info so far, especially all of the GPS marks they will come in handy no doubt. We are currently planning on camping on the East side (weather depending of course) but may move around the Island. We are just wondering how far North we should go to camp. We will probably cover as much ground as possible over the 10 days, but would prefer to set up camp permanently is a good spot for the entire duration. Also any real soft / boggy areas to avoid? The rig is set up fairly well and shouldn't have any dramas (fingers crossed)
Cheers

If you want to get away from the crowds head for the Western side. Awinya creek has no facilities but is a beautiful part of the world. White sand, blue ocean and blue skies. Access via the inland tracks is a piece of cake but you do have to cross the creek so aim to arrive at low tide.

Hi Mate,

Last time we went we beached camped between Happy Valley & Elli Creek. It was spot on - we found a nice little area with no one around - we ducked down to happy valley when we needed anything,

Nice place lots to see.

Cheers
