Hey guys
I'm kinda new to 4x4 I've done some with a mate and just looking for advice on what tyres and equipment I would need to do the telegraph trail.
I've recently put a 2inch lift on my 2005 np pajero but wanting to know what size tyres I would be able to throw underneath I have 17inch rims so I'm looking for max clearance with out having to put in a body lift and getting engineered. Any advice would be great.

Keep in mind your insurance company when it comes to lifting over 75mm including tyres.

Bigger tyres, and bigger lift, doesn't make a better 4wd. Just saying.

Clearance is great, but picking a better line is best.
If you want the biggest tyres because mud holes will be your thing, you'll be fighting a losing battle already.

Try and stay around standard size or only 1 size up, over all it'll make a better arounder.

It will be only for clearance and thanks for the advice picking a better line is always better than wrighting car off pushing to it breaks i just thought that was common sense.

The point about choosing a better line isn't weighted against writing off a car or pushing it to breaking point... It's about recognising that what you spend on lifting the car that extra couple of inches is probably not really going to give you that much more offroad capability, compared to simply being a better driver.

I'll give you an example, my own car. I have a 2017 Mitsubishi Triton. It has IFS, so I am only able to lift the vehicle ~40-50mm at most before needing to spend a lot more coin to go higher. So, I have fitted a 40mm lift and slightly larger than stock tires. All up, with sagging due to weight of accessories etc, I MIGHT have 50mm of extra height over a stock Triton sitting on the lot today.

50mm. 5cm. Less than the height of a beer can. That's it. That's all the extra lift I've got for ~$3.5k in rubber and suspension. (that's bloody depressing really hah)

What difference does 5cm make on most trails? 3 fifths of bugger all. My car doesn't really become any more offroad capable because of being "lifted" (as modest as said lift is lol).

On most IFS vehicles (which I believe your Pajero is? Apologies if I'm wrong..) you'll encounter the same scenario. You can't really do much to buy more clearance without spending big $$. Instead, I'd say pick your suspension to maintain clearance with the weight you expect to carry on/in the vehicle, while putting the biggest/best tires you can underneath it. The "biggest you can fit" though isn't likely to be all that much bigger than what it rolled out of the factory with...
