Ive been a swag man my whole life untill the handbrake wants to come camping and of coarse she says 'i want a tent im not sleeping in a swag' typical anywho so we went to a bunch of camping places eg rays, anaconda, bcf etc etc and all the ones she was happy with didnt like my back pocket.

So once again it struck me bam ebay solves every kind of dilema im in here is what i ended up with

Osiris 12 Man ~ 3 Room Family Camping Tunnel Tent - eBay Tents, Tents, Tarps, Swags, Camping, Hiking, Sport. (end time 16-May-10 20:00:08 AEST)

And im very impressed well to me a tent is a tent i havnt slept in it yet and it hasnt rained on it either so might leak like a seive but to me it seams pretty sweet test will be this weekend going up to melrose for the long weekend and a couple of days either side so hopefully it rains a bit not too much just incase it does leak ha ha and the rain will help with the 4wd experience

will report how the first night went

cheers charlie

Not being a yank mate but PLEASE use punctuation, I ran out of breath and nearly died reading that subsection LOL.

Those tents appear comfy, wouldn't mind sleeping in one of them.

Good luck.

it is the writing of someone quite drunk or foreign
or both

See typical dick making assumptions about people im as sober as a judge

Just because im not the best speller or the best at grammer doesn't mean i dont like
4x4ing which is what this site is about or so i thought.

Two out of three people criticised my punctuation and one of those three didn't say squat about the matter at hand THE TENT NOT HOW I SPELL OR WRITE OR IF I FORGET TO PUT A FULLSTOP IN....................................................

Yes i know its a bit rough but gee matter at hand mate...............

Goodonya Charlie, well said.
Look forward to your report as I've seen them advertised and wondered if they were worth outlaying some dollars on.

Let us know how the tent goes. I need a new for the family for next summer

Yer mate for sure. I have set it up inside and it works ha ha but inside and actually camping in it are a little different so hopefully it doesnt leak or rip to pieces if the wind picks up

Hi Charlie. ya cort a bad brake wiv them fella's on bout ya speelin n punch-a-nation ;).

With all due care and maintenance most tents will last a while. My mistake was stretching our's tight between a tree and the balconey to wash and dry it after two weeks away. Tree moved, balconey didn't. It ripped the corners out which I had to restitch. It's never leaked, even with rain running under us for couple of days. We don't have the same as yours, but similar.

Well done Charlie. Great to see you stick up for yourself. How rude are they. No imagination.

Also well done on your new tent. We had a fair bit of drizzle in Adelaide yesterday, so I expect you might have got a bit up there at Melrose. What was happening up there this weekend. Music festival or something?

I have just dug one of my old tents out from a storage cupboard. I am getting ready for our Gawler Ranges trip in a couple of weeks time. This one is at the opposite end of the price range. It cost me just $2 at a garage sale about 15 years ago. Rugged as. Its what you call a 'pup' tent I think. You might just fit two in it, but the two would have to like each other a lot! Very small. But built to last two or three lifetimes. Two sticks to hold up each end, each made by pushing three little tubes together. Ten tent pegs to bash in and its done. It doesn't get much simpler than that.

Anyhow, the funny thing is that after I made sure I had all the bits, I suddenly realized that the only reason I am taking it is for the unpowered UNDERGROUND camping site at Coober Pedy. Who needs a tent!! Its going to have a roof of dirt over us, there won't be any rain or wind to worry about! Oh well, now that I have brushed off the cobwebs I might take it just in case.

Have fun on your campng trips with the missus. Hope she enjoyed the experience.

come to think of it i should of got pics inside it oh well nah we went away last weekend mate there was a bike festival on few of my mates right into there downhilling and were keen to hit some tracks but that never happened we were too busy 4wheeling lol

But yes tent worked out sweet as the missus was happy she even had a sore back and still liked it bought a foam mattress to sleep on she was happy with that also, but she wasnt happy about the cold ha ha got down to -2 ha ha it was bloody cold ha ha.

But yeah tent a massive success one room was the bedroom, one room was the storage room and the other was the foyer lol so we had tonns of space she is now planning the next trip oh no ha ha.

Looks good mate. And as you said, easy to put up. my 'big' tent is another oldy. You can stand up in it and it sleeps about three if you want a bit of left over floor space. So only about a third the floor space of your beauty.

Again, I bought it on the cheap at trash and treasure about 20 years ago, and it was about 20 years old when I bought it. I like it because it is made of real canvas, and has that nice canvas smell about it when you walk into it. But it takes about half an hour to plug all these tubes together to make the frame. And if the wind is up you have buckleys chance of swinging the canvas over the wobbly old frame.

But for $10 I have had a lot of fun with it over the years.

Just a word of warning with your new tent. Keep fires well away! I spent about $470 on a new polyester tent back in the 70's. That was a lot of money in those days I think you can appreciate! It was just a 3 man tent about the same size as the one I described above. We got to use it just once.

I had set up a camp fire in the Flinders. Tried to shelter the flames from the breeze with a few rocks around the fire, because we were on top of a hill. It would be safer up there, I thought, because if it rains you don't get flooded out.

Well firstly, after we went to bed I could hear these popping noises for quite while. Then the wind and rain came up. The wind was so strong it blew the new tent down. So there I was out in the dark, and the cold and the rain and the wind trying to put it back up. Wife and daughter still inside making awful noises.

And then in the morning we looked up to see all these pretty beams of sunlight shining through all these little holes in the synthetic material. Those popping noises were the rocks exploding, showering the tent with small hot fragments, and melting the fabric. What a disaster! $470 wasted!

So I think you can see why I prefer not to spend big money on tents any more. Look after yours mate!
