Interested to know if anyone has changed their exhaust pipes.. is there someone out there that manufactures GU specific exhaust pipes for better sound?

I'd be shocked if any exhaust shop in Australia couldn't make you a custom exhaust for not a huge amount of money.

If you want noise then go a 3 inch with no baffle, but in my experience a straight-through exhaust drones awfully on the freeway. It gets old quickly. Plus, it's pretty obnoxious for your neighbours.

I have a 3-inch pipe from the turbo back with a 'hotdog' baffle on a turbo 80 Series. It has a nice note without being ridiculous, especially low down. Turbos almost work as a sort of baffle anyway, NA diesels are a bit louder with a straight pipe, so keep that in mind.

Literally any shop could make you a new exhaust for a GU Patrol.

Cheers mate, but I'm not based in Aus, I'm in Dubai. But I reckon mod shops here will be able to do the same.. I was more interested to see if there were specific aftermarket brands that specialize in GU exhausts.

These days I would only fit an exhaust that was going to give me better performance, as in larger diameter to expel exhaust gases quicker & possibly give a few extra HP.

The sound benefit if any is not even secondary & not in the equation for me!

What engine is in your patrol? If it’s the CRD 3.0 litre, no exhaust is going to make it sound good ;) They all sound like a wet fart! I’ve got a 3” Manta on mine, not for sound but for performance with a remap. Note: if changing to a larger exhaust in the 3.0 litre, best to get a remap so it doesn’t keep throwing MAF related codes due to the change in airflow.
