Hasn't Vic changed the mod specs for tyres like other states ? The new specs say you can go 50mm wider, 50mm taller over all than the largest tyre fitted by the manufacturer of the vehicle for you particular model of vehicle. That's makes the 285's 20mm wider and 28.75mm taller than the 265's you say the car has fitted so wouldn't that make them well within the new specs for tyre increases including the larger rims as long as they don't hang out the guards so they would be legal and no need to waste money on engineering.

Also according to some 4WD members on different sites some engineered mods are not legal and you can still be fined but that's another story..

I'm not to sure but great news if your right lol

Try 15mm not 50mm
