To answer your question, typically you budget the price of the engine (that includes computer, wiring, headers etc) and then add $2k for incidentals, to cover Mounts, rubbers, radiator, fittings small exhaust changes. etc More if you need a full exhaust system. This is a guide only though.

I would speak to someone from a Zook club that has done the conversion. Zook fans love to help other Zook fans and typically have a wealth of knowledge to share.

As a matter of interest, Its Torque that gets you up those hills and mounds. If my research is correct. The original engine is a 13A SOHC - producing around 101Nm of Torque at 3500 rpm. The 13B is a DOHC engine producing 108Nm at around 7500rpm. Both are 1.3 Ltr engines.

That's a big difference in revs. Your going to be chewing through the juice to produce bugger all more torque - So I need to ask, if you really want to go down that road?

the reasearch i have done makes me believe that the GTI G13B is a twin cam 1.6lt. out of a suzuki swift. im no expert so im unsure when it comes to the tech part re 101nm for the 1300 standard motor and 108nm for the other 1300 you where talking about,. thank you for your reply and i would love to get into contact with a suzuki club.. for some reason i cannot join on the 4x4 suzuki club site..

Hmmm - Pretty sure that the 1.6ltr motors are the G16 Series. So you might be looking at a G16B.
I've confirmed through a mate of mine that indeed that was also run in the GTi and a similar family version in the Vitara. Couldn't confirm the exact torque figures, but was lead to believe it was around 120 odd Nm - still up in the 6000 + rpm range. That'll kick along! :)

it is not all about power.
you need torque.
torque is what will get you places,
power is what will spin the wheels and prevent you getting places.

in my case, i have a carbied 308.
it has been built to my spec's.
as the v8 has been rebuilt from scratch, it has around 190 kws of power, however, to offset the wheels spinning, it has been fitted with quite a few good bits, to increase the torque.
the torque is up around the 500 plus Nm's.
this is indeed a massive amount of torque.
other v8s have lockers etc to go places, i dont.
a good set of rubber and Torque to keep wheels turning is the go anywhere set up.

in your case, on the road it will be slow.
all you really need to do is put in a towing cam, this alone will bump the torque up.

remember this...
4x4ing although is sometimes fun to spin wheels and drive really fast (where allowed)... but you will not climb much.

torque is your best friend

cheers
